Yeah had the same problem with chrono cross. The game froze up on me as I was fighting a monster and the monster was casting a spell. I would love if the next firmware gave a Save state function to ps1 games just like roms do. So you can save anywhere anytime. Kinda sucks playing for 45 minutes to an hour between save points and the game freezing up on you.
