i know the feelings, when i first had the PB and MMS, it was just blank, but when i held down the L button, it worked...i also made a n00b-free step-by-step guide for pandora's batteery (works on configured for the phat, plus have special methods for the slim), also is included pictures, i even did a video to make sure everyone got it
