You need to first back up your DVD movie of choice to your hardrive... This can take alot of space! Be sure to have at least 10 gigs free (to avoid disk swapping during the process). the final movie will take up about 3-6 gigs depending on its length and the audio quality you chose.
Do the following:
1-A. Load DVD43 if you downloaded it.
1-B. Load up DVD Shrink (my tutorial was created during the time DVD Shrink 3.2 existed... screens may not look the same in the future).
We need to configure DVD Shrink first... once this is done, you can skip this step in the future.
1-B-A. Open: "
Edit" -> "
Preferences..." and on the "
Output Files" Tab,
UNCHECK "
Split VOB files into 1GB size chunks".
1-B-B. Save your changes by clicking "
OK"
1-C. Place your DVD you want to back up into your DVD ROM.
1-C-A. Click "
Open Disk".
1-C-B. Choose your DVD Drive from the dropdown list.
1-D. Click the "
Re-Author" tab and browse to the DVD you loaded in step
1-C 1-E. Drag the "Title" that exists beneath the "
Main Movie" category over to the empty box on the left. This will take a 3 to 10 minutes as it loads subsections of the movie into memory.
Note: Nothing has been extracted at this point!
http://img142.imageshack.us/my.php?i...skbrwsehk3.jpg 1-F. Click the "
Compression Settings" Tab
1-G. UNCHECK ALL the boxes EXCEPT the one you want. Subtitles are not applicable to what were doing so you might as well uncheck all of those (to save space). You MUST leave at least 1 audio stream (unless you like watching a movie in mute). I can't stress enough to only check 1 audio option. Checking multiple options will confuse the next program we need to use. The final product will only be using 1 audio stream anyways.... so once again.. only choose 1 audio selection.

You are now almost ready to decrypt the movie to your hardrive. This takes a while... I have an AMD 3200 with 1 Gig of ram, and it takes me 40 Min. This can very on different systems and different DVD Roms. My DVD rom is actually quite slow... so the process for you guys might go faster.
1-H. Press "
Backup" on the toolbar above and wait for the message below. At that point you can proceed to
Step 2.
