Firmware Installed: PHAT with 3.90 M33-2

Default Problem with iso/cso copy - not displaying

ok. spent too many hours trying to sort this and had enough.

To explain the story in brief. Got PSP phat's and slim. Got a sony 4gig and 8 gig memory stick. i've format the memory stick through the PSP option in system settings and all looks good. BTW running ver 3.90 M33-2 on both.

So here comes the problem that I hope somone can help me with.

I've copied my iso or cso (got a few) file from pc to psp through usb cable direct to \iso directory. Just to note these are LEGAL files!!

I quit the usb connection. Go to the game directory and yeah!, the files are there and work a treat.

Now I go to add another cso or iso file...........copies fine, shows up on the computer but!!!!!!!!!!!!! why the hell isn't it showing up on the PSP this time.

Before you all come on and say it's probably a duff file... tried that and NO, it's not a duff file. I've tried copying one at a time to see if it happens after so many copies but there's no trend.

I have wondered if I need to refresh/restart/reinstall...resign... whatever it takes to actually add more to the list.

DRIVING ME NUTS.

Hope there's a really easy answer to this and find I've missed something.

Just to clarify then.

Files copy - check
First lot of files work - check
some added files work - yep
those didn't work have worked if put on at start. yep

At first I wondered if it was just the 8g memory card and that it only worked at 4gig. NAH seen all the info on that and seems to happen on 2, 4 or 8 gig sticks so not about that.

I'll leave it at that for now and hope some "sensible" smart answer comes back.

many thanks in advance

Have you tried pressing "select" and going to UMD ISO MODE then choosing M33 driver?

maybe its a fake memory stick. press triangle when youre on a tab that has the memory stick option like games, and press triangle, then information. if magic gate is unknown, then its a fake

Thanks for quick responses.

Ok. tried the UMD ISO mode to M33 driver. No extra file showing with that.

checked the magicgate and your correct that it says unknown. Was an ebay purchase so not really suprised with that.

Doesn't really explain why though. the mix of iso/cso that are shown work great.

Can't understand why adding one should change that.

hmmm

Thats why then, your mem card is not real i guess.

Do you live in UK?

If you do Play.com are offering a 4GB for 28.99 with free shipping, i got mine a few days ago

because its a fake, it does not work like its supposed to. thats why it only shows up with 2 or 3 isos at a time. for future reference, dont buy memory sticks off ebay. they are almost always fake.

Could agree with that if it only happened with 2 or 3 files. I've had 7 files show up before.

Price was only £30 for the 8gb and £18 for the 4gb so guess it is a "get what you pay for" situation.

So before I go and buy one of the "original" memory sticks I should be able to copy and paste from PC to psp without problem.

Basically.... you need a memory card that isnt crap.

Like you say, you get what you pay for dude :^/

I got this mem card (4gb) off play.com and have had no issues what so ever.

Thanks for all the help.

Will go and invest in some quality memory cards now.

Any recommendation on brand type?

Seen a few mentions about Sandisk

As long as you get them from a reputable site, and not off ebay i doubt you can go wrong to be honest, like i said Play.com.

I would just suggest not using cso format at all. I always used the iso format and havent run into any problems so far

Did try doing all cso then tried all iso but again no trend.

Just trying a dump of 8 files and seeing which ones show up.

Just a small thought and to rule one other option out.

On looking at some of the iso/cso files using umdgen I notice that some have the addition of the *.bin file in the root directory.

I'm not getting a conflict between some with and some without am I?

not sure why they would need the *.bin file to begin with.

hmmmmmm.

Seems I'm the only one writing in here.

OK. So now I've tried something else that seems to be working.

I'm copying a single file at a time rather than a batch drag n drop.

After each copy over I check the PSP and it seems to be working.

Only another 20 to try and I might find out what's causing the problem.
