Patapon is one of those games that have cheap graphic... d2... it doesnt take that much mb is you make back up copy, about 98-100mb. Most people only like Patapon because, you can assemble your army, and they march/attack to the rythems of certain dum beats. Plus you can equip your armies. |

It's a simple and addicting game - It gets very difficult and the beats change a lot, different beats command the army to do different things, you earn money to upgrade your army by hunting, Your Amry can only be so big - you leave reserves home so the challenges become even greater when trying to figure out the best combination of warriors to take on any given battle. You also earn special abilities called JUJUs which can help but you can only equip one of them before a battle so pick the right one which is trial and error. There are some mini-games to earn items. Upgrading armies is done by collecting upgrades from battles or from combining specific resources collected through out the game when you are ready to create a new warrior. Better quality resources result in stronger warriors.
The game has it's funny points and is comical and at the same time can get very annoying and or frustration. It allows for a little error with the beats (in timing only) so goofing up a beat at the wrong time can really hurt your game. However, staying right in rythm can make you unstoppable if you choose the correct beat at the right time.
I've gotten easily 20 hours of gameplay since it came out and I don't think I am halfway thropugh the game, mostly because I do a lot of hunting for Ka-Ching (Patapon Money).
If your in to "out of the box" challenges and puzzle games, this would be a recommendation from me to you, if you are more in to FPS or RPG, then you may not like it much.
The same goes for another tiny gem of a game call locoroco. Wierd little games that are hard to put down...
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. |

Well, if you buy it off of PSN I think it's downloadable. I have the UMD. And yes, it's an inexpansive game well worth the entertainment value and hours of gameplay. Since I haven't finished it yet, I can't say if it contains any replay value. I can say I would hate to have to do all those damn missions again... |
