Default Final Fantasy VIII help

i have copy of FF8 on my psp but as soon as i go to 'new game' it just stays on the black screen and nothing works. but i can still press home and reboot the game or exit out.

ive looked around and found that my game isnt using the correct game ID.

my question is how do i change the game ID of a game that is already made to PSP format.

create another eboot of the game and change the gameID... once u have done that i believe that ff8 runs best on 4.01 with popsloader disabled if you have it installed..

Ok cheers, but theres a new problem nows >.< lol

heres what ive done now:

backed up my copy of FFVIII using CloneCD on to the computer.
note: this copy that i have is in PAL format.

used the correct game id : SLPS 01222
--w.pspmod.com/forums/psp-misc-guides/15799-psp-ps1-compatibtility-list.html

did my conversion with simple GUI POPstation.

but now after i try to load the game, after the PSX logo the screen just stays black. any ideas anyone?

yeh i have one idea.... i dont use the PAL version so that is a problem!!

I am guessing that you applied the PPF patch required, as FF8 PAL is a protected game??
if not you can find the patch here
and use this to apply the patch
PPFoMatic Ver. 3.0 - FileFront.com

also try using this game id.. SLPS-01222

let me know how that goes.. or if u have already tried that then we will do something else

let me know how FF9 goes...

and im glad that you have it working... let me know if you have any more trouble and we will try to work towards a solution...

P.S. your problem has been the first real problem i have dealt with in a while. so it was fun for me to help u on the way to a solution...

Default Final Fantasy VIII help

Hey thank again cheema2001

i just made my FF9 eboot and its running fine nows. just that theres no sound during the intro movie.

but heres my overview so far:

Final Fantasy VIII
game play: OK
movie: OK
battle: not tested yet
saving: not tested yet

Final Fantasy IX
game play: OK
movie: no sound
battle: OK
saving not: tested yet

so once again thanks alot, all i wanted was to get these games running on the psp. when i can, ill get around to testing out all the features of the games. If something is buggy, ill post a thread or something lol. but they all should be working fine so im not worried

with FF9 you will find that the initial FMV music will not work.. however after that the sound should return to all FMV...

If you would like the initial FMV sound then you can load FF9 as a multi-disc EBOOT and from there load one of the later discs (2,3 or 4) and choose new game.. then wen prompted select disc one..

however from a single disc EBOOT i am not sure wat can be done... u can try pops 3.71 if you haven't already but it may not work...

the sound in that initial FMV really has no bearing on the game, so everything else should work fine..

glad to help out

Default Final Fantasy VIII help

Sorry guys for bumping, but i have a question about FF VIII and i don't want to start a new thread so here it goes..

I am using PSP slim ta88v3 MOBO. With the help of ChickHEN and CFWE 3.01, i finally managed to get Custom Firmware 5.00 m33 working in my psp. I have Final Fantasy VIII games, but i prefer downloading the one that is working correctly. Hence I downloaded final fantasy VIII multi-disk eboot by Cheska. I have done all steps necessary to flash pops module. I also did popsloader plugin just to try it with other pops version. So here's the report list:
ORIGINAL FROM FLASH: After the startup, screen goes black. I can't even see the NEW GAME option. I can press home though.
Other POPS (3.72 below): All hang after startup and i need to turn off my psp completely, and redo all the steps for ChickHEN and CFWE.

Any suggestion?
