Which Monster Hunter game should I play? I'm a beginner - 1 or 2?

I'm kinda in a doubt. 1 has long loading screens which is improved in MH 2, however I fear that by playing MH 2, I miss the basics/fun from MH 1.

What about MH: Unite? Isn't that an expansion to MH 2? As in, MH 2 level + some items and some monsters?

I never played 1.
Ive played 2 and Unite and Unite does include everything 2 had and more. I <3 MHFU

MHF 2 and United both include the same training modules that you would have picked up in the first one. since it's a game based on your own skill and learning processes rather than story or 'experience' points, i would have to say they all taste the same. United just has more bells.

United seemed easier to me than the original for some reason. But true, original is more meat and potatoes where as united includes all the sides.

get the most recent, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.
there is no story line so playing the old ones makes no sense.
also the new ones have more weapons, monsters and armors.
oh and MHFU has Media Install which decreases load times.

Yeap, Unite is definitely the best starting point, you're not missing out on anything jumping to that game and missing the others.
