Devhook or custom OE f/w by Dark_alex???

i was just wondering which of you guys thought was better i was looking around and saw mixed results between the users using either of the two (hopefully that makes sense)

i pretty much have everything required (except a big enough mem card only 32MB) to flash DA's 3.10 OE firmware but im not sure how it functions w/ backup UMDS stored on the memory card...or at all for that matter

i know dev hook has this function but i cant find the actual devhook .52 files or install guides anywhere i tryed looking around here and found a great .44 TUT so then i moved on to google and all i could find was the devhook .52.001 install files and theres no TUT w/ this just a crappy readme that doesnt make sense

and to the mods sorry if this thread has been created b4 i went n00b with this and didnt search for a thread of a similar topic hopefully this doesnt generate any "search and look" responses as its mostly opinion oriented

you sir need to actually but forth effort into your search. devhook is dead. in the ground with worms dead. the OE FWs can play iso/cso back ups off a MS natively, as well as PSX games. and yes, search search search.

Yes this has been discussed. Custom is so much easier. UMD works well enough. Custom FW is pretty much the it thing. Only if you have extra psp's would you really use 1.5 (nostalgia) Theres no huge advantage to it. Loading Devhook every time is a drag. Urineanus is right tho...

well i mean i did look...its not like i simply just said whats this do?

but im XTREMELY new to the scene and so im trying to take it all in slowly im having a hard time understanding all the terms and stuff

and on top of that theres no outright thread that says devhook is dead...especially with a sticky for the install guides and what not making me think its still alive and kickin

my next ? would be as to which OE version is better IN YOUR OPINION
i read alot of threads pertaining to this, most ppl just complained ab the firmware changing there icons and backgrounds and stuff

where the features implemented in the newest OE 3.10 that big, i love customizing the look of things and such not so i think being able to change my background and icon images and the such would be fun...not necessary but fun... (is that hard to do btw)

the main thing im interested in is homebrew and backup UMDS from the MS

get 3.03 OE-c as 3.1 OE still has some bugs. C will do everything you need it to.

seeing as how this question is sem-related i thought id just post it here

but is there anyway bsides using devhook on my OE PSP so that i can play .dax game files

i found the wonders of the CISO compression utility made by dannykay and i compressed my isos each in the 2 diff formats and .DAX was significantly smaller in size than CISO by atleast 20megs and since i only have a 1GB card(for now just bought a 4GB) im trying to get as many games as possible

so i compressed al my CISO's to DAX and now they wont run natively...is there a plugin or something or should i just go back to CISO and wait

cisos are the same as cso's so they should run fine, dax needs a special dax loader or a modded devhook, id just stick with isos and csos
