Old SRC Folder - needed for 3.03 downgrade? 02-09-2007, 07:51 AM   #1 (permalink)

Default SRC Folder - needed for 3.03 downgrade?

Hello everyone!

Sorry for creating a new thread, but I posted in the Downgrader thread 2 days ago and got no answer yet. Also, I tried searching the forums but "SRC" is "too specific". I also read the whole 3.03 downgrader thread, but could not find anything.

My original question was (and still is):

I am not sure about what to do with the other things (SRC,checkworks folders) from the downgrader package, aside of the MS_Root folder. Should I just ignore them and just copy the MS_Root files?
Also, I'm going to try downgrading an european one- is there any increased chance of bricking or has someone already done this on/to an european PSP?
(Because of maybe different Firmware versions)

Thank You!

I didn't have to use the SRC, i think its for patching ta-082 mobo's, but i'm not sure, and every psp has the same chance of bricking, but if you follow the instructions correctly you can join the rest of us in homebrew CITAY

Default SRC Folder - needed for 3.03 downgrade?

I know that the chances of bricking are quite low, I just want to minimise the risk as much as possible, especially because its not mine but my friend's PSP. (Mine already is 3.03 OE-C, originally got it with 2.00 )

BTW its a ceramic white with TA-082.

Thanks for your reply!

the source is for the developers to look at the coding

the custom frmware updaters are open source (technically) so the source is included for developers to review it and change it if they see fit

the folder has nothing to do with the upgrade/downgrade and will work perfectly fine w/o it

I was helping this guy downgrade his 3.03 over the net the other day and I had this same exact question but I just had him put it on there anyway. This is good to know.
