Default PSP custom firmware help

hello, first of all i am a noob at all of this, and i have ordered a psp with 1.5 firmware and i will have it shortly. i just need to know a few things before i try to upgrade to 3.03 OE-C. i am following this tutorial: http://www.pspmod.com/forums/showthr...t=12799&page=1 (GTA:LCS downgrade region?) and i need to know a few things even though they sound VERY noobish.
1) Back up your psp files by coping them to your computer somewhere: does that mean that i take EVERYTHING from start> my computer> my psp and put it somewhere on my computer?

2) go on your psp and run the "3.03 OE-C Firmware install" app.: what does it mean go to your psp? do i put the app. into my psp from my computer and run it or what?

3) Format you memory stick and recopy your backup psp files to your psp: #1-how do you format your psp and #2-do i just recopy the files (if im right from my first question) that i copied earlier back into my psp from start> my computer> my psp?

Again i am VERY sorry for how much of a noob i sound like but i am very worried about bricking my psp.

Also, if you could tell me what firmware you think is best and why it would help me a lot as well.

Default PSP custom firmware help

1. yes, u want to back up everything on your memory stick to ur pc, but since ur getting a new psp then there shouldnt be anything on the stick so di wouldnt worry bout it

2. yes u copy the files u downloaded to the "GAME" folder of ur mem stick and simply turn on ur psp and run it from there. no need to keep it connected to ur pc. u will find the program under "games" on ur psp menu (btw formatting ur stick from ur psp will automatically create most of the folders u need on the stick including GAME)

3. psp will have a format option under system settings, and yes u just copy all ur files back to ur psp

dont worry bout the noobish question, we've all been there before dude

and personally i think 3.40 is the best firmware out right now. same installation procedure as well
