Default 3.71 M33-2 problem. Please Help.

Hello all,

Tonight I tried to install 3.71 M33-2 on my psp slim. I'm now having a problem when loading the psp. I used a walkthrough that read.

"4. Now, before you do anything else:
I. Press 'square' to dump your nand (very important)
II. You must have 60 to 70 mb free on your memory stick.
III. The nand is a backup of all of your flash, the internal files of the psp.
IV. A backup is like diamonds if you ever brick your psp badly.
5. After following the step above, press 'X' to install 3.71 M33-2 firmware.
6. When it is done, press 'X' to shut down your psp. Then grab your ac adaptor.
7. Start your psp up (with your ac adaptor) and follow the steps below.
I. If you have a red xmb wave with no icons, then don't worry..
II. Turn your psp completely off, and start her back up again.
III. If you see a wonderful blue screen, DO NOT press 'O'.
IV. Turn if completely off again, and start it back up.
V. It should start up normally..."

Everything was going fine until I got to step seven. When I started up my psp, it went to the red xmb wave screen with no icons. After loading to that screen, the psp will not allow me to manually turn off the psp, rather it just turns off after about 10 seconds.

I can hold in the right upper trigger to activate recovery mode, but I don't really understand what I can do in that menu.

Can someone please tell me how to fix this problem and restore the icons to the main menu? I'm sorry if this is a total nOOb question, im very new at this psp thing.

Thanks for any help,
-Scott

Default 3.71 M33-2 problem. Please Help.

Ok so I ended up going into the recovery mode and using the reset from there and getting everything to work. But I have a new problem.

Every time I try to run a emulator or game I get a error message that reads "The game could not be started (80020148)". I think that I need to install a 1.50 kernal but I cant find one for 3.90 M33-2. How can fix this problem?

Thanks for any help,
-Scott

I would recommend starting over and reflashing with 3.71-5 it works much better.... I had absolutly no problems after backing up nand ( [] ) then reboot with pandora then ( X ) to flash... put a non pandorad battery in and your good to go...

I upgraded straight to 3.90 but I think 3.71 would still be fine...
