need help, black screen but green light still on
ok so help me out here im a complete noob at this
i tried to hardmod my PSP slim battery, and i opened it successfuly and cut that little connection (at least i thought i did) so i then commenced with downloading the files for a magic memory stick after a while when i downloaded and used the files for the stick i realised i didnt cut the connection well enough so i opened it again and cut it, then when i turned it on i downloaded the whole custom firmware thing with a bunch of lines of stuff i can probably never understand then it asked me to reboot my PSP. i rebooted it and then it happened
the light is on but the screen isnt and after a while the green light turns off
im a noob so please help me fix it (if its possible without a black PSP which i dont have if it needs a black PSP tell me how to do it anyways)
PS. i tried to cut the little wire thingy on the chip that im not 100% sure that is really cut because before i really cut the line above it i tried cutting that chip thing too and it didnt do anything but tell me if its a problem
thx and if you dont understand some things i say, im a noob remember |

sounds like it got bricked in the install process. Try installing the cfw again.

It sounds to me like your MMS wasn't created properly. As far as your battery, go to this thread and verify you cut the right connection. Look at the second picture of the BATTERY BOARD , the BLUE BOX is where you should've cut: http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-har...ery-guide.html (Easy-To-Use Pandora's Battery Guide)
Next answer a couple questions.
1)What happens when you turn your psp on with ONLY the ac adapter plugged in(no battery)
2)What happens when you put the battery in your psp?
3)Why were trying to cut the actual CHIP on your battery?! |

im pretty sure i got the right place (its right there, where the gold line bends)
1)same thing, black screen, green light, turns off after a little
2)if its connected it recharges if it needs to, if it doesnt, check #1
3)no i was trying to make a scrape on it, its not actually cut just a slightly deep scar |

I'm assuming it does this all with the MMS in the drive right? If so, you need to recreate the MMS,since that means it wasn't created correctly to being with. Either use someone else's psp to do this or, if you don't have access to another psp, I'm pretty sure you can make one using a pro duo usb adapter. Any kind that will let you connect the card to your computer should work. Use the catb50 mms creator this time since it's pretty much impossible to mess up, as long as you follow the on screen instructions. http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-sof...full-lite.html ([RELEASE] Catb50 Team's Magic Memory Stick Creator v2.0 FULL & LITE)
I doubt this will work, but just in case try this first. Take the battery out. HOLD L and put the battery in while still holding L. I doubt this is your problem, since you already went through some of the cfw install, but it's worth a shot. Quote:

well the problem with that is that i cant put my PSP into USB mode so i guess im gonna have to go to my friends house to do it with his PSP.. or am i missing somthing? because unless i go into USB mode i cant open the drive
oh and i didnt cut the actual chip, im not that great of a wiz at computers so i though you meant the green part.. the only thing i did to the chip was dent one of its legs (i'm pretty sure i didnt break it)
oh and i read that after you download the custom firmware you need to go back to the battery and fill in the cut with a pencil outline, maybe this is a problem because most pencils arent really made of lead nowdays and im not sure the pencil i used was real lead, does it matter? not really sure the material for the new pencils use material that conducts electricity |

I used a regular pencil to fill it in, so that's not the issue. As far as not being able to use USB, that's why I said use a friends psp, or get a memory stick reader. If the battery was the issue(as far as not filling it back in with the pencil), you would be able to start the psp with only the adapter plugged in.
Just make another MMS, open your battery back up and clean off the pencil tracing with a dry q-tip, that should work. You can try using an eraser but it's a little difficult due to the size of the board. Then put the new MMS in, stick the battery in and hopefully all will be well. Use the catb50 to make the MMS, I cannot stress how fool proof it is, as long as you can read and follow the on screen instructions. |

need help, black screen but green light still on
MY SOLUTION:
I had the problem where i would put in pandora battery and the power light would go green and the screen would remain off. Reason was that I had an incompatible memory stick.
Now, I searched online for 2 days till I got to that conclusion since I read in many places that the memory stick may be incompatible, but nowhere did it say how to check!
Here is how. Load custom xmb, go to any of the memory stick icons (video, music, etc.) press triangle. It should say MagicGate Supported. Otherwise it would say MagicGate Unknown.
If you have an Unknown (Unsupported memory stick) Pandora battery will not load up on your screen.
Hope this helps since it drove me crazy.
BTW, for Pandora battery to work, you need multiple files on the memory stick, which is something that was not very clear while I was reading. IT IS NOT ONLY MSIPL.BIN that is needed. It is the whole conjunction of files that are created with the Magic Memory stick maker.
Good luck. |

Actually, it should say on the Memory Stick itself if it is Magic Gate supported. These are usually Sony brand or SanDisk brand. Also, it would help to know if you are using a Slim or a Phat PSP as I did not see it in your post.

when it comes to memory sticks, only buy one that states magic gate which as said before is normally a sony or sandisk... Also it is allowed to use up to a 4gb but no need to waste the space nor money, I suggest nothing larger than 2gb...I use a 1gb pro duo because the catb50 magic memory stick creator is no larger than 60 mb download...1gb is the most I will use to make sticks..shouldn't cost much for a 1gb stick either..Have fun and stick with it..You will get it working...Take care and best luck! |
