how to get custom firmware

hi i have latest official firmware
but i want to change to custom firmware and what can u do on customfirware
and also do u need customfirmware to play ps1 games

1) You will need a pandoras battery and magic mem stick to downgrade/install cfw on your psp. Check the guides section.

2)on custom firmware you can play PS1 games, play ISO games, install custom themes, play emulators, homebrew apps, and more...

3)Yes, you need cfw to play PS1 games.

ok First: you kieran your thing says u got 1.5, thats not latest.....Second: you dont need cfw to play ps1 games unless you are ripping/*acquiring*/making into eboots

x-fire: you should've started your own thread but to answer your question you need to update your cfw to 3.52 M33, then 3.52 M33-4, then 3.90 M33. To update to 3.52 M33 you need to download the 3.52 M33 official release. In that file you'll find a folder titled M33CREATOR. You need to put two files into that folder. You have to find, download, and put the OFFICIAL SONY 3.52 and 1.50 update eboots into that folder. After that's done then you need to drag the M33CREATOR folder to the GAME150 folder under PSP. If you don't have the folder already there, create it.

Thread starter: There is a guide for getting to custom firmware (cfw) in my signature down below. You don't need to go to cfw to play PS1 games if they are bought from the PlayStation Network. But for all the other thousand PS1 games that aren't on there that you want to play you will need cfw.

I have psp TA-82 version 2.6....want it to downgrade to 1.5.......can some1 help me with this......how can i do it.......do i first have to upgrade to version 2.71 or 2.80 n then downgrade or there is some tool avail.........could any1 provide me with the link where i can download it n downgrade my current version to 1.5....i searched lot on net but couldnt find it.......
