Unhappy Slim PSP locking up at mem stick launch - HELP

Got a slim PSP that I just installed CFW 4.01 M33-2. No matter what I've tried (and I tried a lot let me tell you) it locks up at the "PSP" screen when launching anything from the memory stick (ISO, CSO, FW Update, etc). I've tried using different memory sticks (and all of them work on the 2 other PSP's I have), I've tried an earlier 3.xx version of firmware, etc. The game screens/sound play correctly before I launch the game. I've tried changing the ISO settings for the CFW to M33 and Sony, no difference.

Any ideas of things to try? (BTW, this PSP has a problem where it won't load UMD's, won't even spin up. Could this be related somehow?)

It just sounds like you bricked your psp.... but then it wouldn't even turn on. Try uninstall your cfw, go back to 1.5 ofw, and go back to cfw, and install dark alex's cfw if you havn't already. Get the cfw from THIS site. I doubt your umd problem has anything to do with your memory stick problem. I think you can use your pandora battery to go back to 1.5 software but I could be wrong.

This bunny is here, not because I thought it was cool, cute, or funny, but rather I was too lazy to go find a pirating website and pirate photoshop. Even if I had photoshop i would be too lazy to make a sig.

Never argue with a fool, he will bring you down to his level and beat you.

Carp banned me... he was having fun.... Dx

Default Slim PSP locking up at mem stick launch - HELP

Thanks for the replies so far. This thing is killing me. I'm now on 5.00 M33-4, still no joy. So strange that everything seems fine in the menu area. Another symptom is that it won't restart from the recovery menu (locks up the same way, have to remove the battery). Any wizards out there that can explain what happens (or at least what is supposed to happen) once the PSP splash screen plays? Is there some NAND setting or something that could be corrupted?? I have a NAND dump, is there some way to analyze it for problems??

TIA!

EDIT : I checked the NAND dump with spare_verify, it reported NO errors. *shrug*

Well whenever you launch anything from the "Game" section the PSP logo comes up and makes that sound, then you should see your memorystick led start lighting up, then it will stop and the program will start, then from there on the memorystick light blinks just whenever. That's all I can come up with now. o.O
