Step1 Check which PSP you have. PSP-2000 or the PSP-3000. I guess this is easy.

Step 2
Check which Firmware version your PSP has. To check which firmware version you have to go under 'Settings'>>'System Settings'>>'System Information' in your PSP. Your firmware will show under System Software. It will look like in this pic :http://www.askdavetaylor.com/0-blog-...nfo-screen.png

Step 3
If the Firmware version of your PSP is below(or) 5.03(i.e. if it is 4.01 or 4.03 or 4.21 or 5.01 or etc... but below(or) 5.03) then your PSP is hackable.

Step 4
You should have a SONY Memory Stick and a Mini-B cable to connect your PSP to your computer. Put the Memory Stick in your PSP and go under 'Settings'>>'Format Memory Stick'. Backup you data before you Format, this is basically to create all the required folders automatically. No need to format if you already done it before.

Step 5
If your PSP is below Firmware version 5.03 then you have to update your PSP to 5.03 version. No need to update if it is already 5.03 version. Download the 5.03 version update file here : http://pspslimhacks.com/index.php?dl_id=235

Step 7
OK, now your PSP has Firmware version 5.03. Now you have to download the ChickHEN R2. Get it here : http://pspslimhacks.com/index.php?dl_id=237

Step 8
Unzip/Unrar the ChickHEN and copy the ChickHEN folder in the SLIM folder to the PICTURE or PHOTO folder of your PSP. Copy the h.bin filer to the Root of your PSP. The h.bin should be here like in this pichttp://img44.imageshack.us/img44/5521/root.jpg

Step 9
Now you have ChickHEN folder in the PHOTO or PICTURE folder of your PSP. Now from your PSP go under 'PHOTO'>>'ChickHEN'. Wait for your images to load, here the PSP hangs.

There are two possibilities :
[1] The PSP shuts down after a while.
[2] You see a green light or a strip of colours and the PSP restarts on its own.
If [1] happens then switch on your PSP again and repeat Step 9. Be patient, sometimes it takes many attempts for the ChickHEN to load.
If [2] happens then check your PSP firmware version again, it should look somewhat like this :http://image.blog.livedoor.jp/r35psp...c1815169-s.jpg If the Firmware versions shows up as 'ChickHEN R2' then your PSP is ready for the next Step.

Step 10
Now that you have ChickHEN on your PSP, you can run a number of homebrews on your PSP. Homebrews are nothing but custom made software by people other than SONY which you can run on your PSP. Now you have to download the Custom Firmware Enabler from here :File Details-Custom-Firmware-Enabler-v3.20-PSP-Homebrew-Applications - There is an alternative too but I prefer this. Unzip this and copy the CFWEnabler folder to x:\PSP\GAME\, where x is the drive letter of your Memory Stick. (like C:\, D:\ etc...)

Step 11
1. Go to the GAME part of your PSP.
3. Choose Memory Stick.
4. Start CFWEnabler by pressing X.
5. Now press X to Flash And Start.
6. The PSP will now go back to the XMB(Main Screen)
7. Check the Firmware version again, it should show up as 5.03 M33. Your PSP is hacked for good now.
8. Now press Select Button of your PSP, you should see the 'M33 VSH MENU', Here change the 'UMD ISO MODE' to 'M33 driver'.

Step 12
To play PSP games downloaded from the internet you have create a folder called ISO in the root of your Memory Stick and place the ISO/CSO image files of your games there. The games will show up in the GAME>>'Memory Stick'. Press X to start the game and enjoy.

IMPORTANT NOTE : If your PSP shuts down then you have to load ChickHEN R2 and CFWEnabler again. Since loading ChickHEN again and again is troublesome it is better to keep your PSP in Sleep mode, that is just flick the power button, not hold it for 3 seconds. However if your PSP does shut down, now you know what to do to do, just be patient in loading the ChickHEN R2. This is the only drawback.

I have tried to keep it as simple as possible but may have left out some things so if you have any more doubts just ask here.

Just to point out, the firmware is irrelevant. Whether your psp is hackable depends on the motherboard. you could have a PSP phat with 5.5 firmware youve just updated from sony. All you need then is a pandora and MMS. They will work regardless of your firmware

Its not the firmware number you need to worry about. Its the codes under the battery and on the side.

This is my simple basic rule to finding a hackable slim...........

look under battery, there will be a little white box with date code written next to it. The code HAS to be 8B or lower. 8A, 7B, 7A, 6A etc etc

Then look on the front off the psp at the serial (this may also be on the box)

On mine its 03-27401019-0665106-PSP2003

The number you need to look out for is 0665106, This again is the highest number so DONT get one that has ####108 or ####109 at the end.

Another slim i have has the date code 7D
and serial 03-27401019-0415233-PSP2003

as you can see. this model is even earlier so just to re-cap

DATE CODE 8B or below
SERIAL CODE 0665106 or below



Also your guide seems to be writted with the assumption you have a 3000 model. ChickHEN is crap as you have to keep reloading it.

If you have a hackable slim or phat, just use pandora/MMS and you have permanent c/fw with popsloader.

LOL i have an easier way of figuring it out if yous psp is fat or slim below mobo 88v3 then is fully hackable... that sums it up, this thread is kind of pointless since there are numerous of better tutorials this isn't even a full tut is just for 3000...

I have been trying to do the chickHEN mod for some time now and I have tryed to get the flashing green lights for a long time now and it never comes up it just shuts off amd thats about it and I am using a PSP 2001 with firmwire 3.05

ROFLMAO the first thing you need to know is that you need to download " Sony OFW 5.03" search it on google then make a folder called UPDATE ( CAPS AND ALL ) then put the file IN THE FOLDER and make sure it is named EBOOT.PBP NOT 5.03.PBP after that put the THAT FOLDER on the PSP/GAME folder

try it after that should work

OK so I download the OFW 5.03 and I created the folder "UPDATE" then I put the file "EBOOT.PBP" in the "UPDATE" folder then I put the UPDATE folder in the PSP/Game folder and it still does not work after 20-30 tries...

go to settings then scroll down to system settings then scroll all the way to the bottom and choose system information IF IT SAYS 5.03 just that then you need to vie the ChickHen folder from your psp and just wait until it reboots by itself if it does not reboot and just freezes then you need to keep trying this until it does even if it takes you 100 tries...tho it shouldn't

Wow easier? You mean for those who bought a brand new PSP 2k, you want them to open up their PSP and void their warranty to check the mobo? Stupid. She posted a better way to identify which are hackable without even opening the fucking package. If you cant even remember that, then wow.
