The Dark_Alex Custom Firmware Q&A Thread
i have a psp fat running the 3.71 m33-2 firmware as well as the new 1.50 kernel update. Everything on the psp works fine except for certain games so id have to change the driver in the configuration menu. All other features of recovery seem to work fine but when i click the configuration menu the screen goes blank and hard locks. I am unsure why this is happening, i wasnt having any issues on 3.52 m33, i just updated like an hour ago to my current version. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Dark_Alex Custom Firmware Q&A Thread
I'm still on 3.40 OE-A. I held off because that was the last Dark_Alex fw (or so we thought) for a while. I'm known the truth about the M33 custom fws for a while now, but only recently had any time to look into it further. I'm a bit behind. Can anyone help me catch up a bit?
What are the changes/improvements/limitations to the newest cfw? What is the highest cfw that retains the fullest homebrew compatibility?
I heard recently that iRShell was updated to work with newer fw. Is that still true?
Until next time... |

The Dark_Alex Custom Firmware Q&A Thread
Right... I'm currently on DarkAlex 3.30 OE-A and I want to upgrade to 3.40 OE-A and then to 3.52M33 and so on to the recent Custom Firmware editions... my issue however is that there are no separate guide for going from 3.30 > 3.40 which, well... I need to do BEFORE any further upgrades... so I'm wondering where I might find such a guide/installer or if any of the mighty Mods would care to explain?
Edit: No worries found quite good explanation in the files I downloaded am now currently on
3.30 OE-A > 3.40 OE-A > 3.52 M33 > 3.71 M33-4!
yay!
Advice to anyone installing CFW on your PSP or homebrew in general: READ the manual , if you're uncertain READ IT AGAIN.That's how I got my luffly PSP to the newest version anyway... hehehe... thanks for making this forum, always a great "helper" in my time of PSP trouble. Eh... that sounded really cliché.Aaanyway... thanks...

Okay, call me a tard, but I still can't find the 'super-everything FAQ' for this stuff, so I guess I'll just ask here.
Is the ISO folder (3.71M33-4) in the root there for putting raw binary rips of PSP UMDs in? |

You put ISO Umd files in:
"Name of station":\ISO\VIDEO
Make a folder in ISO called VIDEO and put all UMD isos that you wish to load here.To load ISO UMD files from here on your psp, press SELECT and a Video menu should pop up, Image loading is currently disabled so scroll using the arrows (left/right) and the name of the UMD ISO should show up.
Exit the menu and when you hover across the UMD disc icon under Video in your PSP menu, the file you wanted to load should be accessible.
THIS WAS TESTED WITH THE 3.71 M33-4, and worked fine for me, maybe it works on the 3.51 M33 also?
Sorry if the some directions are a bit unclear, English isn't exactly my first language.

Okay, so wait, a UMD is a video rather than a game?
Your English is pretty good, actually. Thanks for the help. |

If it is a game just put it in the ISO folder
If its a rip of a PSX game then PSP\GAME
and if the rip is a good one it should load, also I think you still have to have a PROPER umd disk in the system to load any of the ISOs.
EDIT: The one I explained before was if you wanted to load UMD video ISO BTW :P

Okay. I just finished ripping my copy of MMX Maverick Hunter and I dropped it in there. It's recognized in the memory stick and shows the same bg/animation as the disc does in the XMB, but when I hit X I got fail. I'll try it with a UMD in. Thanks for the help, again. |

The Dark_Alex Custom Firmware Q&A Thread
I don't wanna bother anyone, but I'm just not getting anywhere. I have a psp fat custom firmware 3.71 m33-3 I've reformatted my memory card, and I moved my iso file to my folder iso. The problem is when I go to games , memory stick it says There are no games.
I've trouble shooted a couple things that people suggested. They said hit select and make sure UMD ISO MODE says m33 driver (which it does now) and that in my restoration thing or whatever it is called under configuration that it says no umd.
Anyone have any ideas? |

Hmm... I can't say for certain, since I'm a noob and all, but have you tried M33-4? For me all I have to do is drop an ISO or CSO into the ISO folder and so long as there's any UMD in the drive the ISO appears on the memory card list.
Oh, and also, I've found that a UMD actually isn't needed, so you can save some battery power. Just hit select in the XMB and change the "UMD ISO Mode" to M33.
