I just installed 3.90M33-2 and I gotta say that it's much better than the 3.71M33-3 I was on before. For those of you who don't know this already, if you have an Official Firmware (commonly called an OFW), you can't directly upgrade to the M33 version. In one case, 3.90 cannot upgrade to 3.90M33 without using a pandora's battery to downgrade first. The updates for CFW's (custom Firmware) are homebrew, which Sony protects similar to a mother protecting her child from a raging Tasmanian Devil. As for those that give up because it seems to take too long (that's you auzreal187) stick it out until it's done. plug it into the charger if you need to. leave it overnight to process if it takes too long and if it's still like that in the morning, you know there's a major problem. the error is probably due to you canceling the process midway thru.

Default The Dark_Alex Custom Firmware Q&A Thread

Quick question from a first time poster.

Does CFW disable the interactions between the PSP and the PS3? I can't get my PSP (Fat, running 3.90 M33-2) to be seen by the PS3 to either get things from the PSN store for the PSP (nor the PC PSN Store) nor can I set up remote play with it.

The PS3 sees it as a USB device, but not a PSP. It's a 20 GB so I've got to use USB. Any thoughts?

pretty smug. any way I am not canceling the install. It stops itself and disconnects rom my computer and closes the usb connection

Firmware Installed: cfw3.90m33-2

Default The Dark_Alex Custom Firmware Q&A Thread

I have Dark_Alex's Pandoras battery and Magic MS that updates to 3.80m33v5 made and they both work.

Now the question,

Can I change the 380.PBP in the root of the Magic MS to 390.PBP
and the UPDATE.PBP in the root with the 3.90v2 UPDATE.PBP (and name it UPDATE.PBP of course)

so that when I use the Pandoras battery and Magic MS it will update right to cfw3.90-2?

Yes u can with the Pandoras battery and the magic memory card. Information on both can be found in these forums.

Last night I upgradea PSP to 3.80m33v5 from a PSP with the origanal Firmware that was at 2.60.

Since 2.60 was so low I first I upgraded to 3.80 Official then went to 3.80m33v5 with the battery and Memory stick.all went perfect.

Your problem would be u cant make the battery or memory stick If your PSP has Official firmware.

Go to 5 cause it has 2,3,4's changes in it.

Or u can go to 3.90 then 3.90v2 and it has all 3.80's in them.

Firmware Installed: 3.10 OE

Default The Dark_Alex Custom Firmware Q&A Thread

I'm currently on 3.10 OE firmware and I'm trying to update to 3.90 M33. The updater didn't work and I read that I had to go to 3.52 M33-3. I downloaded 3.52 M33 and it went through the process and it installed however where ever I look it still says 3.10 OE. I figured it might just be a glitch so I went ahead with the 3.52 M33-3 update but it says it's not meant for this firmware or it's already installed. I then thought that was another glitch so I tried the 3.90 firmware but it still says that I need to be on 3.52 M33-3 or later. I've also tried 3.51 and it still shows that I'm still on 3.10 OE.
