My UMD game (Monster Hunter) still works along with my homebrew. Is there a way I can use DEVHOOK0.4X launcher too make the iso work? Or maybe I could use fastloader7(though I doubt it works on 2.71 SE-B)
what is ur firmware, cuz if its any version of 5.00 m33 i think know what ur problem is cuz ive had the exact same problem as u and i cud relly help u

ROLLDAWGZ - You need a Pandora battery in order to boot the PSP into service mode. Didn't you see my reply asking if you had a PB on the previous page?

Mr_Sprinkles - Please don't spread misinformation. Darksun45230 needs to change the UMD Mode to M33 Driver. Atif cannot install CFW since he has a ta-088v3 motherboard; the Slim with 4.01 OFW proves this.

Sounds like you made yourself two Pandora batteries.

Try and start your PSP up with just the AC adapter. If it works then your batteries are fine. Just start it up and then when it's fully booted put the battery in. Then start PSPTool 0.9 and go to Battery Options and select Convert to Normal Battery.

If when using the AC adapter your PSP just gives you the green light and then turns off then you'll need to make a magic memory stick to recover this brick. Since it is likely that you have already made a Pandora Battery, make an MMS following the instructions here -> http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-har...ery-guide.html (Easy-To-Use Pandora's Battery Guide)

Good luck!

Default The Dark_Alex Custom Firmware Q&A Thread

Hi, I'm new. Sorry for the noob-ish questions.
How do I update from 3.80 M33 into 5.00 M33-6?
Do I just download it and run it like normal?
Or, is there any kind of special procedure?

actually its quite easy considering i did it yesterday. first download the update, and in that download u should have a folder called UPDATE. put that in your PSP:GAME section of your memory stick. do not run just yet! make sure you have downloaded 500.PBP, which is official firmware, and also put that in your update folder. in the UPDATE folder you should have two things, EBOOT.PBP and 500.PBP, then just run in your game xmb. google search 500.PBP official firmware for that download.

I see, so OFW is also needed to install, that's why I was confused because 5.00 M33-6 download size was so small (200 kb). So, technically speaking, this will work for any CFW version below 5.00, am I right?

yes, it will. i prefer M33-6 because it is the latest from DA (dark alex). so update to that. actually thinking back u need 3.80 and above.

3.52M33-3 is the earliest firmware that allows you to update directly to 5.00M33. Very few people are still running cfw's like 3.40oe-a and such.

But an even easier way to update is via network update. 3.80M33 was the first M33 that supports updating to the newest CFW via Network Update. If you're on 3.80M33 or higher, it will connect to Dark Alex's site and download all the necessary stuff. Then you just have to run it. Very simple.

You may be aware of a small bit of controversy that happened in the psp circles back when 5.00M33-6 came out. Some people were saying that the new feature that claimed to speed up the MS read speed didn't work. (in-game, not during file transfer to MS from PC).

I agree with them. IMO, the 3.71 driver is faster. I compressed a few games into cso.'s that have been known to lag under higher compression and then I tested them using the regular MS driver, the "optimized" MS driver, and the 3.71 MS driver. My CPU speed is set at 333/166 always BTW. There was little to no lagging on the 3.71, some occasionally annoying lag with the "optimized" MS driver, and the regular 5.00 was only slightly worse than that.
