for a while my friend and i were comparing halo 3 and metroid for wii...after a while he dropped everything and his only argument was that it ran in 480p at 60fps the whole time...it was lame. i hope people know that 480p is not hard to pull off...there are original xbox games that run in 480p. i have nothing against xbox...it's always been a great system, but i think that ps3 will be better. people bag on the fact that ps3 has no games right now but take a good look at how many good games are for wii...there's like only 3 that are worth buying...and once you beat them it's over...no online, no wanting to play again, no nothing.

Microsoft delivers and so does Sony, they know what gamers like: blood and sports...wii is for kids, period.

I agree.
I think that's actually the crippling factor of Nintendo. It's all for kids.
The systems themselves are designed for kids. Think about it, all the real systems play DVD's, Bluray, CD's at least for Christ's sake.
The Gamecube or the Wii don't at all.
And, the PSP plays UMD's, movie files and music files. While the DS, or any Gameboy doesn't.
It seems like right now, gamers want to be able to enjoy multimedia. DVD's, movies, music, pictures, that stuff... Nintendo doesn't deliver on that at all.

Gamers want to be able to enjoy games in serious hi-def, with great graphics, and beautiful cinematics. The Wii and DS's poor graphics are like looking at sandpaper, compared to the real system's "glass shine."

Real gamers aren't wooed by the fact that Nintendo's systems are "out of the box" in their human interaction methods. Real gamers want something that is neat, but something that works, and that is put to use.
The Wii's "controller" is seriously flawed, it's absolutely horrible for anyone looking to play a game, rather than "do something with a bunch of friends." The Wii can't be made for a real gamer if it's only useful when you've got some friends over.
And, gamers want a way to control their system, that's actually going to work. The DS's second-screen is utterly useless. Anyone who's ever seen it probably said "touch-screen, that's awesome!"
And anyone who's ever played with it was left wondering "when do I get to use it?" There's no point to it, so it's really just there to grab a 10 year old's attention.

And, as we all know, gamers want to play games online. Everyone does.
Almost all the games that are popular for the PS3 and the 360 are online capable, and all the big games coming out for the systems are online capable. And out of those, they're using the online capabilities as a major selling point.
Who buys Halo 3 solely for the purpose of playing it for the one, maybe two, days it takes to beat it, and then plans to just stash it away?
All the big games, that is, all the games that've got gamers excited, are online capable.
Where are the online games?

i love my wii, but i would like to see some more grown-up games for it. It would be the best system for a shooter, but i dont think nintendo will let that fly.
Really, the only reason any buys the 360 over the ps3 (or the other way around) is for sequels. 360 has halo 3, that other popular xbox game.... ps3 has R&C, final fantasy, Jak + Daxter (speculated new game)...
At this point in time both consoles are tied in terms of power. The ps3 will pull ahead, but for now people just want to play the games they know and love on their old system.

why not just own both a ps3 and 360? thats what i intend to do. i like my 360 for shooters and racing and i like my ps2 for platformers and gran turismo. ps3 has potential but im not gonna buy one and forget about my 360. i rather own both and pick the multiplatform game that i prefer for each system. like when Mercanaries 2 comes out i might like the ps3 version over the 360 version and buy instead, or i may prefer call of duty 4 on the 360 over the ps3 version. theres no reason NOT to own both consoles. showing loyality to only one brand ends up cheating you out of great games in the end

Thats exactly how I feel. Only thing is, I don't have $400 at the moment.

Not everyone can just go buy both systems. Its great that you (julie) have enough money to blow it on a bunch of games, but some of us have to decide which one we want more.

I have more important things to spend my money on like college and shit. 2 game systems is not a possibility. The way it is now ill be lucky to get a ps3 by next summer.

i think its better to wait till theres actually a good selection of games before taking the dive and buying a ps3. i didnt buy a ps2 till half way through its lifespan. if you already own a next gen system, stick with it or sell it and get the other one. right now, 360 is the way to go, but theres no telling how its gonna look 3, 6, or even 9 months from now. theres no "rush" to buy a new system other then youre desire to play games...and either system will make you happy
