drew, I don't want to seem like a dick or anything, but I'm not even going to reply to any of your responses as you have no clue what you are talking about. You can change the indexed search to ANYWHERE:

^^ It will search your ENTIRE harddrive.
It's actually setup to search both my harddrives in the above picture, so...
Click the link if you don't believe me.

And re-read my statement, I said I'm not limited to any game [excluding crysis] I never said I could play crysis.

All my statements I said are based upon facts, not personal mishaps like yours are.

Any problem you have with vista, I.E., stop services (which you do realize one the service is stopped completely a reboot takes it out of current memory), you can google to fix, hell there are sites based solely on vista tweaks.

As for pspdude101, GROW UP.

No one here cares enough to listen to your bullshit. You're an immature little tool on this forum, you joined two months ago, either STFU or GTFO.

I've had few problems with my vista. But I guess that's because my old computer (which had xp) REALLY sucked .
If you want to get rid of all the security notifications you can just easily turn off User Account Control for your account(s), and no more security problems. I actually had to do that to just install the Crysis CryEngine2 Sandbox2 (which, I completely love!)
Oh yeah, CanadianBacon, to play Crysis I definently advise upgrading your graphics card to something actually good (mines a GeForce 8800 GT, plays Crysis with very small and rare freezes, which last only a few seconds). It's worth it, the game is awesome!

@psp: I'm not going to say anything here but I think the observations of the other community members make my point perfectly clear. If you think that you can solve every problem by removing the post, you might as well just erase the last 7 pages of your text in your future consoles thread.

@bacon: I've went on tweakguides, neoseeker, and many other forum/discussion websites and haven't found a single answer for my problem. Vista is said to run on a 1gig recommended for the OS. I was wondering if there was any way to target that 1 gig used for Vista at other programs. i've tried stuff like msconfig, services.msc, and FSAutoStart but the toll on RAM is just too great to handle. I can barely play CSS on there.

canadian, what you are doing in that image, is searching the INDEXED locations in those drives. this is what im saying. it will not allow you to set a default search location to 'everywhere'.
try it.
stick a file in a non indexed folder
run the search on all drives
it wont find it
click advanced, then search everywhere.. it will find it.
"which you do realize one the service is stopped completely a reboot takes it out of current memory"
this is not true.
get into your task manager, click services.. take a look for yourself.
all those programs that are 'stopped' are still loaded, not doing anything.

i misread your statement about crysis. but my argument still stands.

Vista isnt as terrible as everyone likes to make it sound. Its trendy to be a mac fan and hate vista. MS is a giant company and the media likes to portray them as evil because they are so successful.
Sure vista has some issues, but all OS's do. People liked to bitch about how a couple of their programs wouldnt work after they upgraded to vista, but i only had a few that wouldnt work and i fixed all of them but one. When i upgraded from Tiger to Leopard about 1/2 of my programs stopped working and i had no choice but to wait for an update from the vendor. Yet MS gets shit for having flawed legacy support....
I had vista installed and i really liked it, but i only really used it for games and i can get a slightly smoother framerate using Xp Lite so i went back.
There are so many people who either dont take the time to figure out how to use the new features in vista and say it sucks because they are lazy, or they are just sheep who follow whatever the media tells them.

i agree with you about macs. I was considering them for quite some time, then i did a little research and realized how much worse they overall then most things made by MS.
I do like somethings about vista.
the aerobar is fantastic. besides looking great, its nice to be able to just run the cursor over the tab and see whats opening (my favorite feature of vista).
i like the fact that 99% of drivers needed for external/internal hardware are already in it.
thats really about all i like compared to xp.

vista is good for high-end pcs...well that cost money MORE money then i make, and i cant really afford to do it, this laptop came with Home Basic..it makes me upset that an operating system has four sets, i mean XP had only two, Home and Professional. but i guess microsoft got greedy and decided to make you buy more stuff. this computer lags (compared to Ubuntu) when on Vista, i would love to go back to Xp, but the drviers are vista-certified-only...and it makes me upset that i am forced to use vista, to me its just a fancier xp, i really dont need all of this stuff it has. that is why i am in ubuntu more than vista...but thats just me

Vista isn't all bad. Microsoft gives it a bad image because they ship the OS out with CPU's that can barely run it. I bought mine with 1 gig, that's barely enough to run.
