PSP vs DS
I do agree with the jedi again The price is a great thing but the psp is sooooo much better (sorry jedi) I had the ds for about 3 months since it came out and about the 15th day I was disapointed. so i traded it in to get the Almighty psp If i wouldn't have i'd probably have thrown it out the window and shot it with my shotgun. The comparison is 1/1000 1=ds 1000=PSP NO OFFENCE TO ANYONE! esp. u jace I'll freeze ya

Here is where we agree: Quote: |
True the psp is sleeker, sexier, and has better graphics than the ds, but the ds has innovation and funtionality (if they actualy can incorportate the touch screen into their games right).
| Here is were we don't: Quote: |
The DS is aimed at younger audiences, hence cheaper, a bit more durable, simpler and more young age oriented games, and new 'innovative functions' to keep the toddlers entertained.
| I'm sorry, but you don't have to be a toddler to enjoy innovation. My thinking is that all the systems have pros and cons (except the N-Gage, which just has cons). I am just about as hardcore a gamer as they get, and I happen to enjoy the brilliant innovation, wonderful characters, and immersive worlds available only through Nintendo. Take the Fire Emblem series for example. If a little kid tried to play that, he'd lose all his characters almost immediatley. That kind of strategy, that kind of challenge, is definitley not for kids (not to mention the fact that they'd get really confused when trying to read the old-fashioned way that the characters in the game speak). Zelda, also. how little kids do you know that can beat Majora's Mask? I'm sorry, but if you have to abandon fun and original gaming to grow past toddlerhood, then pass me the baby bottle.

I think by "younger kids" he meant 10 - 13 by your last post even though i get your point, I think you were thinking a little bit too young. I beat Majoras mask when i was 9.

OK, ok, let's get this straight, We're saying that the nintendo is aimed at kids when it's the developers who choose which games to make?
Let's throw out a couple of current actual real life numbers.
The average gamer in this country (USA) is 29-30. Worldwide the average gamer is 32. We spend more than twice the amount on games as tickets sold to the movies. In fact if you include DVD sales the industry is still making more money than Hollywood.
Let's get over the idea that any of this is for youth.... even if you are one.

Well lets not deny that Nintendo's graphics can get a wee bit "kiddish" at times...even a game as awesome as Metroid Prime...Im not saying that the graphics in Metroid were "kiddish" but if it was on the Playstation they would be 10 times more manly.

| Gamespot said that the PSP is barely beating the DS just now. Where are you getting your facts from?
P.S. The DS was launched 10 days before the PSP in Japan.

| I know. I was being sarcastic. I'm 16 and will love Nintendo for the rest of my life.

| There have been many cases of great games that sold far less than really stinky games. Games like Sonic Adventure DX: Director's cut far outstripped masterpieces like Beyond Good & Evil. See what I'm hinting at?

I think that the DS has more of a unique aproach. Nintendo apparently is trying not so hard to get better hardware and stuff and that is why... the DS is $100 cheaper! Though the DS doesn't have memory for music/movie, it's dual screen is very unique. You won't be able to play DS like games on the PSP. But, youd be able to play PSP like games on the DS though not exactly the same... and probably lacking qualitywise. What Im thinking is...overall PSP is better but even I originally wanted a DS more than the PSP mainly because i didn't know you could play movies on it etc. |

OK, this isn't even a fair debate.... I have a new one for you all.
Atari 2600 vs PSP!!!! Now there's a debate, compare the 32 color graphics to the 64000 color graphics. The monitor size is as big as your tv!!! Wait, it is your tv....
I mean comeon, the ds is not even in the same class hardware wise, it's priced low enough to be what it is.... a toy. Now I like playing with toys and I have no problem with people who like the ds. But comparing it to the psp is laughable just like above. They aren't the same hardware generation even.
By the way, I'm not saying the psp isn't a toy, but I tend to think of it as a gadget, toys for big kids. :P After all it competes with mobile dvd and iPods. (waiting to get slammed on this comment, bring it on!)
<-----is obviously not a Nintendo fan, sorry Jedi.
