well i agree this is a wonderful site very helpful havent seen another better one, i really like this site and lets not let just anybody talk about it people have to watch, their words here or they will look bad and hey who agrees with me this a wonderful site right!!

Emulator- A program that runs programs based off of a certain or multiple platforms. For example SNESEmu runs SNES Game Files.
Emulation is not illegal as the emulator functions as the machine. As it is not the machine, the company has no legal claim to the emulator. Nintendo has copyright and patents on the design and function of the SNES. Does that mean they can sue the guys who made ZSNES for my pc or my SNES Emulation program on my psp? No, they own the SNES not what it does.

Rom- the file played on the emulator. Unless custom written(and yes I've found custom games for my SNES Emulator on my pc), is usually copyrighted. Illegal to download unless the true form of the program is owned. I own Jurassic Park for my SNES, seeing as how my console was stolen from me I can't really play it can I? But I can download the game and play it on my psp and pc thanks to the emulators. Since I still have the cartridge I can't be sued for piracy because they have their monies.

You don't have to agree with how things are done, but you can be respectful about it and not try to make a big arguement on how pirating games is like customizing your psp. My views on piracy don't represent the views of the forum, but I respect the rules and views of the forum enough to abide by them while I use this forum.

wow. have any of you tried getting jobs as mind readers? hope not cuz u guys suck. FIRST, i NEVER said i support piracy. its wrong, i no. doesnt mean i havent downloaded a few games in my time (so have most of you). i just feel that youve halted sales on the systems that people have worked so hard to make. Oh, btw those BIOS files associated with emu's, they ARE illegal. read up. yes, the world is a better place thanks to hacking, but you must agree that it is only a matter of time before it ultimately destroys us. All im trying to say is, would you go up to sony and nintendo and say," Hey guys. Look what i can do on my psp!"? dont think you would.

Also, Julie, you say you dont support piracy of games yet you dont feel you should have to pay for the system? thats not cool.

yes BIOS files for the emulator (like the GBA emulator) are illegal, hence why we wont post them on this site...

anf if you think we "halted sales" on systems, what systems have we halted sales on? SNES? NES? Genisis? These systems are very difficult to find now, hence why we have emulators. The word HACKED and MOD basically are the same thing... to MOD is to

We have halted the sales on systems????? Most people buy there system and then look around and find that you can do all this cool stuff to it. We dont get our systems for free!!

And if you ment games, as we said we backup our gams that we BUY wich is completely legal.....so there is no way we are halting the sales.

no, u misunderstood. i dont think i should have to buy a ps3 to enjoy my psx games on my psp, aka, why i love my custom firmware so much. carefully read peoples posts before making counterposts in the future

I, for one, am going to have to agree with simplegamer on this matter. Look at all the money I've selfishly kept from the people who work so hard on consoles! Wow, emulation is definitely taking money away from them!

Not pictured are my GB Color, GBA, PS One, another PS2 and another SNES.

LOL. If you're so worried about emulation, check your local authority or legal bureau. And for the most part emulation or imitation are legal, you can't break copyrights and trademarks tho.

Actually...yeah I probably would go up to Nintendo and be like " look at my psp...it's pwntendo!" Then again, I've never pegged myself as brilliant, just smart enough to get by and lucky as my irish roots would have it.
