Ive heard alot about people being treated like s*** for downloading games. I have done this, only on certain occasions and only a few times, too. Why are you giving them h***? Is emulation not stealing? If you can post links to the emulators themselves, why cant you post links to the games or just help with their problems? Think about it. Somebody's losing money somewhere. Why should it be on the systems? Clearly games are the cheaper factor.

1. emulation itself isnt stealing, but the rom/iso files are. its copyrighted material that is obtained without paying

2. again, emulation is perfectly legal. but the games themselves arnt. theres a gray area where u can own rom files if own the actual games, but we still dont allow links to be posted simply because people WILL download the games they dont own

3. we cant help people who download games because it condones piracy. instead of helping them w/ what to do with this downloaded game, we send them elseware. i for one, refuse to deal with anything illegal on this site that could cause it to be shut down

finally, this is a site that celebrates the modification of the psp and its accessories. what we do is totally legal, but it aslo leaves the door open for piracy. when someone blantely says "i downloaded Socom, now what do i do with it" we WILL continue to refuse to help them. buy the game. if u wanna support piracy, then go to another forum. u wont find any help here

first off, how can you say that? someone STOLE someone's invention (e.g. GBA) and turned it into something else. Are you gonna buy a GBA if you can play it just fine on the psp? dont think so. Also, the playstation emu. How's sony gonna make money off the 'playstation store' if everyone can do it for free using custom firmware? they cant. thus, emulating is stealing profits from big name company's.

as i said, the software isnt illegal, just the files are. thats why they continue to exist on major sites. theres responsible people who use it like it was originally intended, but theres aslo alot who dont. its just a massive gray area on the legalities when it comes to emulation.

i could care less if sony makes money off the sony store. i own all the psx games i like, so i rather play them on my psp for free. i dont feel the need to buy a ps3 AND the games all over again just to enjoy them on my psp when i can use custom firmware and play them now. i payed my $40 for final fantasy 7, and i refuse to wait AND pay another 7 bucks just to play it on my psp.

DA and his crew have legitally hacked the psp to allow the playback of psx games, weither the person uses it for good or evil is up to them, and it doesnt affect how i use mine. as i implyed, i rip my own games and use them perfectly legally. ive done nothing wrong

But, the word HACKED states that its illegal. good or bad, its all seen one way in the eye's of corporations, ILLEGAL. tell people to go away if you dont like what they have to say, dont be an a** about it. there are alot of people out there who rip there games to share with people. theyre just trying to open peoples minds to the # of games out there.

it CAN be illegal, but hacked can aslo be used to unlock a system/games hidden features. the word isnt as negitive as it used to be. keep in mind that sony is ran by middle aged business men who have no concept of what we do.

and sharing ripped games is illegal as well. if u didnt pay for it, then u shouldnt have it. its the same as stealing

oh, and dont tell me how to operate my forum. ive done more for this site then u ever will and ill be here long after u leave the site. if u dont like it, then dont post here. im sure theres lots of other forums u can go to post. we wont miss you

I am a middle-aged technician and I love the entire "hacking" scene...which
IMHO is about seeing what an established system of hardware can be made
to do that the original designer's did not think themselves.

Hacking a system of hardware/software you own is not ILLEGAL.Developers
and manufacturers get off the hook with the "voids your warranty " statement
which puts responsibility on the owner of the said "system",after all...you
bought it,you own it,do what you will with it.

Downloading s/w,f/w,or media without paying for it is ILLEGAL. You cannot
expect to get help doing something illegal unless you parley with criminals...
especially in public places and I don't see anyone here posting from jail...

Use a bit of common sense and google search for things...leave outright piracy to the pirates and please don't ruin it for everyone else.

emulation is not stealing, emulating was made so you can emulate a console on another console, it was made for that intention ONLY,

emulation was NEVER made for piracy, or to play games you don't pay for. It was NEVER ment for that, it was ONLY made for the pleasure of playing you backed up games on another console like the psp or xbox

Dark_Alex NEVER intended his custom firmware for PIRACY, he only intended his firmware to be an awesome firmware that the public can enjoy

PIRACY WAS NEVER INTENDED, he thought it would be nice to play backed up isos off the XMB, he thought he make it easy so people can enjoy playing their favorite homebrew on their psp and enjoy what sony had to offer at the same time,

he thought he hack the sony ps1 emulator, so people wouldnt have to buy a $500-$600 PS3, and $5-$10 for crappy games they can get at EB or Gamestop for $1.99, he thought it would be better if everyone could put their own favorite PS1 games and enjoy it on their psp,

also the common misconception that hacking is direclty linked for doing wrong. if it wasnt for hacking we wouldnt have half the technoly that we do today. one of the original makers of mac was a huge hacker when computers first came out and he partnered up with steve jobs and they made a killing so hacking isnt what you think it is. yes there are some idiots in this world who hack into peoples main frames for fun and corrupt all their files. those are the bad ones. you make it seem as if hacking is bad. also emulation is perfectly legal and by you saying that two wrong s dont make a right doesnt exaclty go along with the fact that your trying to say not to be mean to pirates you contradicting yourself. so just give up.. there is a time when you have to know that you are in the wrong. so just stop making a mockery of yourself and this forum. because god knows that no one has the time to argue. and if you dont beleive me that hacking has shaped technology and what it is today look here and watch the whole thing http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...25144369700635. also if you pay attention you will find that homebrew was out way before psps... so go learn something
