Default Emulating on firmware 3.52 -- possible?

Hello everyone, first of all I just want to introduce myself and say that this is a great forum!! Lots of great information here and I hope to stick around in hopes of answering all of my PSP related questions.

Now please allow me to ask a question about emulating, because I want to make sure that the research I have done so far is truly correct. I love doing my own research and all, but this is just a bit overwhelming and I REALLY REALLY don't wanna brick my PSP. I am primarily interested in playing some old school NES, SNES, N64, etc. games while on the go, and I would've never thought it possible until I found this site.

In order to run emulators on a PSP, it has to be firmware 1.50 or lower correct? Otherwise I will have to downgrade by using the corresponding downgrade utilities such as ones found in this thread.
http: //www.pspmod.com/forums/firmware/8178-ultimate-downgrader-guide-2-00-3-50-updated-6-27-07-a.html
*I guess I can't post the actual URL due to spam control. I understand

Since I am running 3.52, does that mean that it's impossible for me to downgrade and emulate at this time? I found this thread http: //www.pspmod.com/forums/custom-firmware/23148-3-40oe-3-71m33-custom-firmware-installation-guide-very-noob-friendly.html also which talks about some firmware 3.52m33 & 3.52m33-4 but I'm guessing those aren't referring to Sony's firmwares but rather custom "homebrew" firwmare versions correct?

Default Emulating on firmware 3.52 -- possible?

So I've found out that I'll need a Pandora Battery pack to downgrade to firmware 1.50, but I'm not sure which firmware to install after it. What's different between the 3.52m33 and the 3.71m33?

Next time don't double (actually in your case, triple :P ) post and use the edit button, you'll get yelled at by the mods haha.

Now. I believe there is no possible way at this time to downgrade 3.52. You're correct in that you need the Pandora's Battery.

As for differences in the two M33 firmwares.. both are cuswtom firmware, which combine 1.50 capabilites with the version in the name, 3.52 M33 is 1.5 + 3.52, etc. These firmwares allow you to do all that the official firmware does, and adds features such as allowing the user to play iso/cso's, run emulators, do all the homebrew stuff etc, and use plugins. I myslef use 3.52 M33-4, and have never used 3.71 M33, so i cant tell you the exact differences, but im sure if you looked around there's a list of both firmware's abilities and features.

3.52 m33 has more apps and themes compare to 3.71 m33. that is AS OF NOW.
and yeah you need a pandora battery to downgrade your official 3.52 to 1.5 and then upgrade to 3.52 m33-4.

note: i said 3.52 m33-4 because before you can upgrade to 3.71 m33 your firmware should be 3.52 m33.

So what you guys are saying is that as of right now, I would be best off to go with 3.52 m33-4 correct? Then maybe upgrade to 3.71 m33 later on?
