Exclamation Final Fantasy VIII

Hey guys, I know this is pretty old and been answered multiple times but......is there a fix for Final Fantasy VIII? I have tried so many different Game IDs, none of them seem to work. While one fixes some problems, it also creates new problems. What to do, what to do?

**UPDATE**

Well it seems I can never be stopped short of achieving my goals.

First off, I'm sorry for writing so much, I get carried away. Second, if you haven't had issues playing final Fantasy VIII then, A- you are very lucky, B- this thread does not pertain to you. If you have, then carry on reading.

The whole idea behind the fixing of this unbelievable game has come down to the game ids. You know you've tried so many, then only to find out later on it doesn't work. I don't know if you have ever tried SLPS-01222, but this one truly fixes it, in the sense of no more freezing. However(), this lead to, once again, another problem. Between screens the game would slowdown tremendously. This would also occur when drawing/casting magic. This was very annoying. I stuck with it, got sick of it, tried a new id, then went back to freezing.....finally gave up and went to my Xbox 360. Several months later I'm back to playing this game and I have finally found out a "true" fix.

I'll cut to the chase. Use the SLPS-01222 game id, but this time........ready........

don't use any compression! When making the EBOOT.PBP use a compression of 0, nada, and....Whoa la! Fix-o-mingo, it will now work! I have been playing since this find and it hasn't froze once, because the game id is SLPS-01222 and it never slows down due to the fact that its not compressed. Well, get back to it. Start playing Final Fantasy VIII again, lag/froze/broken/frustrated free!

**UPDATE 2**

Ok, the best way to play this game by play on firmware 4.01 while using the ID SLPS-02180.

This has nothing to do with your post but nobody has answered me. How do you change the disc ID? I have an eboot.pbp of FFVII Disc 2 and I need to change it to the same ID as disc 1 for it to recognize the save. Please help.

You shouldn't need to change the game ID for the save file to recognize it. The game prompts you to save at the very end of disc 1, and this save is recognized by disc 2. I am on disc 2 of Final Fantasy 7.

It must have been made correctly to begin with then. I dont think I was that lucky. I own the original game, but I downloaded the eboot because I didnt know how to rip the game correctly and convert it etc.

I saved at the end. Loaded up Disc 2 eboot.pbp, and it doesnt recognize the data.

Oh thats really weird. Yea, I found a tutorial on here on how to make eboots and so I converted my own copy.

Here is the guide I used
http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-gen...psx-games.html (Making PSX eboots with your OWN PSX games!)

I was hoping that there was an easier way to change the game id, but Ive spent so much time trying to figure it out that I will probably just end up doing that. thanks.

Well if you know what your game ids are I might be able to help you. All you have to do is copy the "virtual memory cards", SCEVMC0.VMP and SCEVMC1.VMP from the old SAVEDATA folder to the new one. For example, your playing game X-Disk 1 and it saves its saves under folder ABC. X-Disk 2 uses a different gamesave folder, CBA. You would then copy just the files SCEVMC0.VMP and SCEVMC1.VMP from ABC to CBA. Then you can load your old saves with X-Disk 2. I've included a pic if your lost.

The folders in my pic will most likely not resemble your solution. Just follow the concept.

By the way, your welcome.

I would also like to point out that this topic pertains to the game Final Fantasy VIII, not Final Fantasy VII.

I don't see how it didn't work, considering I have used this method several times in the past. Make sure your only copying SCEVMC0.VMP and SCEVMC1.VMP from the old folder to the new one.

I finally got it to work by just ripping my disc 2 to bin/cue and changing the game id in popstation and re-making the eboot.

thanks.
