Question Not Sure Which Emu's Will Work With My Firmware

Hey there guys,

I recently bought a Fat PSP from my co-worker.

It currently is running on FW 3.40 OE-A.

I've been searching through the topics here and the links etc but the readmes and faqs state to choose either 1.0 or 1.5 to put into my /PSP folder.

I'm a complete noob to this so I'm not sure how to move forward. I'm looking to enjoy Nester and the Newest SNES9X emu (4.2 I think I just DL'ed) but through my interweb scouring I havent found info on what exactly works with my FW.

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks In Advance.
EDIT:

Well I grew some balls and just tried some stuff. I have SNES working, I'm sure nester will be fine as well. However the SNES does have some slow issues. I'll try researching a bit more on it but playing with the emu settings havent helped so far. -_-
Ah well, at least I have it working for now.

Just download the complete 3.xx Emulator Pack from my sig down below. All of the emulators in that pack will work with your firmware but why don't you consider updating to. 3.40 OE-A is really old.

Thanks. I actually saw you mentioned that to someone else and thats what I did hehe.

I'm worried about updating because I dont want to screw it up. If updating the FW means a better SNES emu speed, then I might think more on it but I just dont want to mess up the psp the way it is. If something happened I dont know exactly how to fix it O.o

If I was to update what CFW would you suggest for a Fat PSP?

3.90 m33-3 is really good so far. Aside from 3.95 GEN, it's the latest hacked firmware.

Are there any good tutorials/guides about adding that firmware? Is there a chance I could brick my PSP by switching to that newer firmware?

The only reson you might brick your psp is from an update with a virus but as long as you get it from a trusted site it is fine. And there are many tutorials on the interweb just use google. If you want to update to an m33 cfw use dark-alex.org it is the creator of m33's website.

All you have to do to update your firmware is download DAX's file and read the readme that comes included. And in the readme's it'll probably say you'll need some of the official sony eboots which you can find here.

It's pretty much if not all just copying and posting some files and folders to your PSP's GAME folder.

But you're gonna have to go from 3.40 OE-A --> 3.52 M33 --> 3.52 M33-2 --> 3.90 M33 --> 3.90 M33-3 if you want to get to the latest. I personally like to stick to DAX's firmwares because I trust them but if you want to try out some of the others like 3.95 GEN this be my guest. But downloading, copying, pasting the folders will really only take you like 10-15 minutes if you haven't done it before.

I'd be glad to help, just ask if you have any questions.

3.95 GEN doesn't have 1.5 kernel, and eLoader doesn't load everything correctly, ie Pandora's Battery Creator. It writes the wrong code to the battery.

Thank you for reaffirming my belief that I should just stick with DAX's custom firmwares.

3.80 m33-5 seems to be the most stable, per my experience.

Also, use the 3.xx pack, as Ed said.

So all of the above emus in the 3.xx pack work w/ 3.90M333 right? I know 3.xx implies so, but i just want to make sure. who knows what version was out when it was named 3.xx, etc.

Yeah, they all work. And sorry for my ignorance when it comes to the GEN labeled cfw, I just haven't even looked into it.

Whats the deal with using a 1.50 kernal. this is required right? Does that come w/ the 3.90M333 install? I see i have a game150 directory. is that where the emulators go? I'm a little confused on this.
