Default I'm very new, just got my psp...

Hi. I just bought the God of war version of the psp. I bought a 1 gb memory stick, and a 4 gb memory stick. Look at it like this...I know NOTHING about PSP's yet...but I really wanna learn.

Emulators...I've used them on computers, but when I found out you could put them on psps...well lets just say thats what got me to buy one.

I am going on a very long trip, a 20 hour drive. I need to keep busy on this drive!!!

I have lots of questions about emulators...

I want to get a Nintendo 64 emulator, but from what I've been reading it doesn't run very fast. My question is, are there ways to make it at least a little faster? Also, how much memory does it require on the card?

Also, I would like to get a SNES emulator, basically i've seen that and I liked it. Does it run slow like the 64 emulator? And does that one require alot of memory?

One other thing, I've heard that you can ruin a psp if you don't mod it the right way...so I am counting on everyone to help me out!

I appreciate any help

daedalus (n64 emu) runs super mario 64 pretty smoothly without sound on 333mhz/166. but thats the only game thats really well. oh, get a emergency charger or a second battery pack, or even third if you want to keep that psp alive ooor get a car charger, but i hear it lowers your car's battery life by 2 years if you use it too much. SNES runs perfect. you also need custom firmware to play emulators.

Hi Rob,

First, I'd definitely recommend the guide section for pre-reading as you'll want to be familiar with the steps involved with setting up your PSP with CFW. The others will correct me if i'm wrong about this, but...

1) There's a thread in this forum about the N64 emulator which mentions using frameskipping and no sound to help it run faster. As to How to do that, I don't know, never tried.

2)SNES emulator is available, and seems to be updated regularly, so if you search for that in Google or on this site, you should find the app along with explicit instructions how to put it onto your PSP. Good news is that the roms are the same ones you'd have been using on your PC. So you are looking at about the same MB of space required.

3) Yes you can brick your PSP by fooling around with it in a haphazard manner. Basic rule of thumb is read until you understand how the homebrew Apps, Firmware updates, Pandora's Battery/MMS, etc work, and then go through step by step and you should be fine.

I'd recommend starting with the Guides section, which includes very explicit and detailed instructions on creating a Pandora's Battery and Magic Memory Stick(MMS) which is the basis for modding your PSP the way you seem to want to.
