Default Final Fantasy VIII on psp

hey all, i realise this is a problem game, but i've tried all the fixes and none seem to work for my problem, your opinions would be greatly appreciated;

I ripped my own FFVIII ISOs from discs (PAL) and ran them through the patch, then i made a multidisc eboot...this worked fine (with disc speed on 'fast') until the Iguion battle during the Edea parade (which, i believe, has caused trouble for a few people). to try and fix this, i've used a popsloader for the multidisc eboot (though only 3.7x would load the game), i've put the eboot on a 4GB memory stick by itself (some suggested the game should be on a memory stick with a lot of room), then i created a single disc eboot (same gamecode, so the savedata still worked) and tried to run it from flash on both my 4GB and 8GB memory sticks, then on suggested pops ranging from 3.03 to 3.72 (3.4x, 3.5x, etc.) also on both memory sticks. All of these trials, however, resulted in freezing when the Iguions used Magma Breath or Resonance (sometimes they would work, but towards the beginning of the battle, one of these moves would cause the game to freeze).

My question is; do you have any idea how to fix this? might the game work if i used an NTSC version? should i try the single disc eboot on my 1GB memory stick, or will this have no effect (my 1GB is my only 'sony' memory stick, the others are third party/fake but work fine with everything else)? any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance

did you use the full compression level when making your eboot?
