Default ROMS Running Slowly

Hello forum goers, Sector Z here. I have encountered a problem with the s9xTYL SNES Emulator. From the games I've downloaded, I've noticed a slower game play. Mario Kart for instance, menu screen is fine, but game play is 2/3 the normal speed. The same goes for Yoshi's Island, for a few examples.

Is this an internal problem that can be fixed by changing some settings in the emulator menu, is this an uncontrollable problem, or is it only a select few games that this happens to? Also, could it be an issue with game size?

Thanks in advance!

Its only a few games it happens to. Change the settings. Especially the video engine. Different setting work better for different games.

Is this the game engine you can access by pressing the Home button? I think it is.... Anyway, how would I figure out which one to set it on? Sorry, I'm new at this kind of thing.

Default ROMS Running Slowly

I need the same help. I've tried different settings, but cannot seem to get anything to work well. Is there a listing of preferred settings for each game out there somewhere?

Default ROMS Running Slowly

Any help guys, This is starting to bother me. Many of the games I download have lag, or slowed gameplay and sound. I have tried Yoshi's island, Mario Kart, Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World, and Super Mario World (On it's own)

The only one I found to work normally is Super Mario World on it's own. Even then there are some Graphical problems. For instance, when you open a key door, the giant key that opens isn't black, it wide striped black, and whatever the background color is. Also, the entering and leaving level sequence is slightly slowed, but that's if I'm being picky.

But no, I would like to know if there are any settings or solutions to help this problem. I want to really enjoy my PSP, but not in the intended way.

If this helps, I am using as PSP-3000 with ChickHEN Homebrew enabler. I have Update 5.03 (Required) Installed on my PSP. Also, it is obviously a SLIM version.

which version of snes9x are you using?? the test 5 release, or before that?? i have smrpg running damned near perfect with barely any lag on test 5.....

psp accel + accur soft
fullscreen
frame skip 1
smoothing and speed limit on
Emulated output
22050 mhz (it's old sound anyway)
clockspeed: 333

lags during battles a small amount after hitting...especially when the stars for timed hits come up, but it doesn't interfere too badly. kinda wish i would have stayed in programming a little longer so i could try to optimize it some more....oh well.

I am using s9xTYLslimmecm_test5_0527 for my SNES emulator. I don't change my settings because, to be frank, I am too afraid as to what it might affect. I won't change a whole lot due to my lack of knowledge, young age(15), and I have just began my emulation interest.

(When you put these settings on, while you're playing the ROM, do they only entitle them to that specific ROM, or is it consequential for all of the other ones?)

the settings i listed are just the normal simple settings....you can save them as default so that any game without setting built into the emulator setup will go to them...they work in general for most games as i listed, some that you may not need frameskip for....age is no excuse for not know something or to not be confident on your answers or making small changes...you have the whole world at your fingertips with the internet, so do some research....but, the settings you put in the emulator only work in that, they do not branch to other programs or the fw.

Roms running slwoly on the psp is completely normal due to the fact that psp does not have so much RAM as other consoles have. Youll have to live with it. Also, a way to help speed things up is to disallow sounds.

you can't not emulate the sound for some games though because it will mess the other parts of the game....and on the psp, sound doesn't help the speed that much....slowness is even experienced on the slims with more ram to use. and the psp has more ram than most games that were created before the psp. even the n64 only went up to 16 or so with the expansion pack....it's the fact that this is mostly a ported system and wasn't designed specifically for use on the psp, so it doesn't run at the right speed even with most of the coding fixed. even a dual core computer will have lag on some emulators that are multiplatform.
