Great Thread!! Here are my additions...
For Mame (Classic Arcade Games), try MAME4ALL PSP (I use v4.9r2) but there may be a later one - push the PSP clock frequency to 333 for smoothest play (not all ROMs work so there is a list of compatible games with the emulator)
For Amiga (ADF disk ROMs), tryPSP UAE4All (I use revision 1 by TTYman) but there may be a later one.
For ZX Spectrum Sinclair, try FUSE PSP (I use v0.9.0.26) but there may be a later one - this is awesome and can save redefined keys for each game automatically loading them when the game starts, have save-states, screenshots and also a pop-up keyboard when you press the R button!
Jut a point for people who can't get them to run, I place all mine in the "150" folder on my PSP rather than "Game" folder and they all run purfick and the "save" function works in the emulators! Don't know if this will help anyone but might be worth a try.
Oooh, one thing worthy of note - many people say "A ROM is a ROM is a ROM" meaning that the ROM is just an image and is the same ROM for any system. This is true BUT be aware that some ROMs are country specific and some have been patched for specific systems/emulators (eg there are about 3 different NEOGEO romsets patched for different emulators) if you download a Gigs worth of roms for NEOGEO Rage emulator, they wont work on a different emulator and vice-versa - I don't think it's easy (or even possible) to 'un-patch' them. This can be annoying or confusing if you're new to emu's and you expect everything to just work but it doesn't and you can't figure out why - it could just be that the ROMs are patched (although, admittedly, this isn't very common)

Whichever emulator you use, there is usually an updated list of compatible games for that specific version. Check that you have the latest version and see if your game is listed. If there is no list or if it isn't compatible, just have a play with the settings and see if the Gods are in a good mood - my suggestion is (if there is a problem) try adjusting settings on a one-by-one basis to see if any improvements are made. Also, there is always the outside chance that the ROM is corrupt or not supported. Of course, if a game runs OK, then don't play about with the settings!

Because the hardware is so similar, if you install custom firmware, you should be able to play PSX/PS1 games automatically (or by using a popsloader software). Most games run glitch free! I use clone cd to RIP the disc, popstation GUI to convert the ripped files to an eboot and dark alex M33 CFW on my PSP and place the PSX game eboot and keys file in the "ISO" folder and it works.

Wow, 'UO gpsp kai' is some hot shit. What's with the impossible to remember name though?
Anyway it's ironic that I'm now playing all my GBA games on my PSP instead of the DS. That's how much I love this emu

That's how much I love this emu | Here's the most up-to-date version of gpSP by Takka: File Details-UO-gpsp-kai-3.4-test-3-PSP-Emulators - I'm not sure if this thread has the most up-to-date version; none the less, the link above is current. |

There's a gameboy color and sega mastersystem emu I just spotted (not had chance to try it yet) called "MASTERBOY".
Gonna try to install the 150 kernel separately on 5.00M33-6 and put all my emu's in the 150 folder to see if they work when I choose 150 kernel (in the recovery menu) as the default for my homebrew game folder Might sort out the problems I've been encountering with the emu's not starting
*edit
OK cool, thanks to SLOWMAN for the 150 kernel patch!
For anyone experiencing problems with these emu's, install the 150 kernel and in the recovery menu select (use 150 kernel for homebrew) all the emulators should then work from the 150 folder on the PSP even with 5.00M33-6 which was cauing me problems with glitchess and "Game Cannot Be Started" etc

Curiosu if anyone ever attempted a GameGear EMU, or if just no one cared liek when it was out anyways. I have one, think I got like 3 or 4 games for it. It wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. |
