i got gpSP 3.4 on my psp 2000. i have the rom loaded too (it shows up in the menu) but when i highlight and click on the rom, these things pop up on the other side of the screen. they seem to resemble names of folders on the psp's memstick. when you click on 1, it shows the next stage of folders. i keep clicking them until there are no more, just 3 dots... if i click that, it starts all over. how do i start the game?

That's a tree view of folders and files, pretty common. You need to use o to choose the game.

how? when i scroll over the game, pressing o takes me back to the main menu, and x brings up the tree.

You must be doing something wrong. I just ran mine to check. Emulator boots up, i see list of ROMS, highlight the one i want, press circle, and it loads it.

hmmm. it says "rom name.zip" as the rom. was i supposed to unzip it and just drop in the .gba file?

You're not selecting it, you're selecting the tree. The white text is what you're highlighting, not the blue. So on the screen where you see the zip, make sure it is highlighted white, and press circle.

If you're still struggling, put more than one rom on there, so you can see what you're selecting.

when the rom is selected, should the text turn green?

No it should just run. I didn't notice part of your post above, i don't know if GPSP can read zips, but all of my roms are unzipped, so might be worth trying that.

shit. it asks for a password to extract files.
