Just got a PSP with Firmware 3.51 on it can I mod without a P battery
Hi guys from the looks of it no I cannot but just saw that a new CFW was released so I am hoping here. If not I guess I will have to return the PSP that I bought as I dont really want to buy one from Ebay.  |

if ur trusting and you want it bad you can find someone who'll do it for ya, for free most of the time, just make sure you find someone who wont screw ya over!

or you could buy a new motherboard for your psp.
there around $50.
or try returning your psp for a new lower firmware one

Yeah I returned the PSP with that firmware back to Gamestop and bought a 2.82 off of Craigslist and already modded it to 3.52M33  thanks for the help guys. So anyone want to tell me some of the best things to do now with the modded firmware? | |

enjoy it, use hombrew, emulators, play .isos, use a custom xmb theme, play psx games.

Thanks What is this XMB stuff? Also when I was looking to purchase a PSP I was looking in Worst Buy and a employee there said something about watching TV on it without using Wi-Fi. Is this true? I would figure if it was you would need to buy some sort of tuner or something.
Lastly what is some really good homebrew that is a must have? Did I see something about GPS functionality?

This Sony PSP GPS Receiver PSP 290 + Deniska`s MapThis! 0.5 (download link a little further down from the top) = GPS on the PSP!!!
I really want to get this but don't have the money to pay for the PSP-290 right now. I already tried MapThis! and it looks great, you don't need the PSP-290 to just view maps, but of course it won't track your location without it.
And some homebrew that I really love are PSPRadio - Listen to Shoutcast Stations through WiFi, GameBoy Advanced Emulator, SNES Emulator, Links2 - It's a web browser for the PSP. Those are just a few.
Edit: You can customize the XMB with this CMXB 2.5, the tutorial says its for 3.71 M33, but it should work for 3.52 M33-4 (I'm using it right now).

About the TV feature, yeah if you have the slim model, buy the 1-seg tuner and live in Japan. Otherwise, you'll need wifi and a TV Tuner/capture card on your PC or Sony's $300 Location Free TV base station.
