Default Easy Magic Memory Stick method - works on XP/VISTA.

When I format my MS in Windows, I get this error when I try to install the .bin file:

Check BPB Sector
Error Selecting Filepointer.
Can't read BPB sector

When I format the stick in my PSP and then try to install the .bin file, I get this message:

Check BPB Sector
signature AA55
Check free reserved sector:to small reserved sectors

Do I need to use mspformat or something similar? I'm pretty sure I couldn't get mspformat to work in Vista last time I tried.

Does these files work with all PSPs PHAT and Slim?

I have a slim PSP with 2.71 firmware, will this work for me?

I havn't tested the MMS but the process of making it was fine. I already have a mms for slims but thought I'd play around with one for fats (I could be wrong but there seem to be a few different files between the 2).

Here2Rock I used the method listed under guides -> hardware titled
"How to create a Pandora's Battery and Slim MS without a Fat PSP "
(I'd link it but i'm too noob aparently =p)

and did the full battery + ms if that helps you

no, Pandora's battery is recommended for 3.71 and greater. although it CAN work for you, there are MUCH easier downgraders availale for 2.71 altought for slim i'm not too sure, i would google "psp 2.71 slim downgrader" to be srue

Thumbs up Easy Magic Memory Stick method - works on XP/VISTA.

i did all these command prompts in this order on an XP machine

TAKE THESE STEPS:

1.download msm.rar at the start of this thread and unpack to C\users\(yourname)

2.search for MSPFORMAT download it may be on this site but as a newbie i dont know........Google is your friend also and once downloaded save to C\users\(yourname)

3.launch a command prompt (start -> run -> 'cmd'), then navigate to the extracted directory. Run these 4 commands in this order (replace X with your memory card's drive letter):

4.mspformat X

5.format X: /fs:fat

6.xcopy /KE ms\* X:\

7.msinst X MSIPL.BIN

you may have to hit Y for yes at the end of msinst X MSIPL.BIN so do that.

once this process is over place your stick into your PSP.
then put in your PANDORA BATTERY

and your away.

this worked on a slim 3.71OF psp for me and it is now a 3.71 m33-2

thanks DrGamut for all yyour hard work on this it worked well for me

as soon as you start CMD prompt it should look like this:

take into note
C:\users\Leigh>
Leigh should actually be your name and where you saved the files.
and this is the default directory CMD promt acsesses
hope this make it easier my friend

N.B I USED VISTA AS AN EXAMPLE FOR THE PIC TO SHOW YOU WHAT THE DEFAULT cmd PROMPT FOLDER IS THIS DOES NOT WORK ON VISTA BUT PERFECTLY ON XP

Yeah, I used like..the original Pandora guide and got it all done. I'm too noob with DOS to figure out the navigating thing.

C:\users\Leigh>

That sort of thing would just get "Incorrect syntax" or somethin.
