I recall getting a similar confusing message (though if it's that exact one, I don't recall) when I made mine. I don't think this is an error message, as my magic memory stick made in Vista has worked to mod four PSPs so far and will do its fifth tonight, my first test on a slim.

Effectively, the magic memory stick will work on any firmware, unless I'm really out of the loop. To reuse the memory stick, formatting it on the PSP should do the trick!

When I inserted the pandora battery into the psp NOTHING happened, so my question is, was it bad that I took off the silver casing or did I do something else wrong and can I fix this. Thanks and sorry for so many questions!
To be honest, I have no idea about this part. I just opened up a Slim battery myself, and may have messed it up. I'm sorry I can't be of any help there... However, when you say NOTHING happened, do you mean the screen didn't light up, or did you check the power light, as well? The PSP Slim with the pandora battery and memory stick mods blind--it does all the work on a blank screen. The only way you can tell it's ready to begin is if you stick in the battery and get a green light for power without flipping the switch. When it ends the light goes out.
I really apologise if this is all information you knew, I just wanted to help in any way I could. Good luck!

its not blind, you just need a multiboot ipl which means you can hold the L button on boot, then you could see it, trust me i have a slim

Thanks for that, I actually just came back to this post after reading the same information in another guide. This is my first time modding a slim. Sorry for the misinformation, and thanks for the call on that one, Herc!

Default Easy Magic Memory Stick method - works on XP/VISTA.

Thanks anyway, but the battery I opened was actually a fat psp(PSP-110), but I looked at another forum and noticed the slim PSP was relatively the same kind of battery and the guide said, "DO NOT REMOVE ALUMINUM CASING". Darn, but I bought another battery and did everything the correct way. Thank you again for your help.

I think I messed up the slim battery I was using, but then I tried the fat I made before (which was much easier to mod) and it worked to mod even the slim.

Apparently, for those having trouble with Vista, you must upgrade your .NET Framework to 2.0... or something. I can't recall which is it, can someone clear this up for me?

Did you right click on command prompt before you opened it and select "Run as administrator?" Even if you're currently on the administrator account you'll have to select that sometimes on certain programs.

I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but also try going into the directory ("cd.." until you're back to the C drive root folder and then "cd (folder name here)" up to the folder with the files) into which you've put the files.

Try that and lemme know if it works.

Hi h2kimmen,

Im also using vista (home basic that came with the laptop ) and I successfully installed 3.71 M33-2 CFW on my psp slim today -trust me, I was tearing my hair out trying all sorts of methods I read online until I found this so If you want something that works 100%, then follow this and you shouldnt run into any problems:

FOR VISTA USERS:

save this file: hxxp://www.sendspace.com/file/91aeat

( change xx to tt )

Format your MS in your psp

1. Download and extract the files, copy the 'Pandora371' folder to your C:
- you will need 'Administrator permission' to copy the folder, press the continue button twice
*(make sure you are the administrator on your computer via control panel if you arent already)*

2. Turn on your PSP and insert the memory stick you want change to a 'Pandora' memory stick.

3. Right click your desktop and create a new shortcut, type in CMD and click next twice.
* Right click on the new shortcut and choose 'Run as Administrator' and choose 'Continue' and a black MS-DOS window will open.
* (The title of the window should read 'Administrator: cmd.exe')

4. Type in: CD \ and press Enter, this will take you to your C:\> Drive.

5. Now type in CD Pandora371 and press Enter, this will change the folder to C:\Pandora371>

6. Type in installipl and press enter and you should see this on the screen:

PSP MS IPL Installer
Load IPL code .\ipl_loader.bin
15620 bytes(4 block) readed
Scan Media
Drive 0:Non RemovableMedia
Connect target MsProDuo

7. Connect your PSP to your computer using a USB cable and activate the USB connection while the MSDOS window is open.

8. The Program will auto-detect the memory stick and will ask 'Are you sure? [Y]', press Y.

9. If you see "Write MS BOOT CODE" then the 'Pandora Bootcode' has been written to the memory stick.

*You can now close the black MSDOS window since you have the 'bootcode' installed to the memory stick.
Do not format your memory stick after this, doing so will erase the
'Pandora Bootcode' and you will need to make the memory stick again.

FOR PSP SLIM USERS: hold, and keep holding down the L button before putting in the pandora battery. Keep holding it down through the install until you are prompted to press 'X' to shutdown the PSP.

You should now be running 3.71 M33-2 firmware.

** I take no credit for this guide it was made by Skyline from consolespot.net **

Hope this helps!

Ty for this. I figured out why it wasn't working. I bought a sandisk mem card other day so I but that in today and what do you know it said write ms boot code. I got my 512mb sandisk for only $5 but its worth it. Ok just shut it down then put in memstick and press L then put battery in but didn't work. No memory stick light action...

OMG!!!!!! I figured it out!!! Ok use cat50 psp downgrader
Then get a sandisk memory stick. 512mb worked for me. Then run the installer as administrator then shut down. Take out memory stick and psp battery.(pandora battery) Then put memstick back in. Hold L for slim. Put in battery and hold L till it says you can now shutdown!=D
