Firmware Installed: 3.71 M33-2

Default Weird semi-brick

I have a psp slim running 3.71 M33-3. i was playing parasite eve off the mem stick when the screen suddenly froze and the unit stopped responding. I shut it off and restarted the unit and it booted to the main screen, but none of the buttons were responding. I pushed the hold switch and the VSH menu appeared, and when i released the hold the exit option on the VSH was highlighted but none of the buttons would respond still. I turned the unit off and restarted in recovery mode and the buttons worked fine. then i ran the recovery it loaded ok but when the unit restarted the buttons still refused to work. I have a MS and pandora batt so i flashed and reinstalled 3.71 M33-2 with the same result, nothing responded. So, I then flashed and installed the original 3.71 and the buttons worked, but the volume keeps turning all the way down and will not go back up, and when i ran a UMD game the start button refused to work and when i push the home button it locks on the home menu and none of the buttons respond any longer. i have since done a physical nand dump, regular nand dump, installed original 3.71 and then installed 3.71 M33-2. i'm now at the main screen, the volume is still wonky, and i have the same prob running either games off the stick and UMD's. plus the start button no longer works in the games. and i have to keep the VSH menu disabled otherwise it locks up the whole system.

Sorry for the long post but i figured i should be specific. any advice on how to fix this, or can it be fixed?

Making your posts into different paragraphs is better to read....Anyways was your buttons working properly on the origonal firmware? If not then its your psp hardware. You didnt by any chance change the face plate?

Sorry about the grammer.

Everything worked perfectly from when I bought it new, to when I installed the CFW and until yesterday while playing parasite eve.

I've had the M33-3 installed for like 3 weeks. And no faceplates.

It sounds like the button bar has developed a fault, like the individual buttons are making contact all the time, or that you might have a idstorage problem.

Try keycleaner 1.4 by chilly willy to see the state of your id keys.

Default Weird semi-brick

I had the exact same problem.

PSP fat model PSP1000

I have been using custom firmware for ages without any problems until recently. While trying to return to main menu by pressing 'HOME' during a game, all my buttons became unresponsive. I hard-reseted the PSP and return to XMB, still the D-pad and the four buttons are unresponsive although the control buttons at the bottom are working.

I entered recovery mode, the D-pad and buttons became responsive again, so I am certain it is not hardware related. I reverted back to original firmware 3.90 using some techniques and all the controls are working fine in XMB. However when I enter keyboard mode it went bonkers, constantly shifting though the characters by itself, as though there is an invisible finger holding onto the select button.

When I tried to install back custom firmware 3.90 M33-3, the D-pad and 4 buttons became unresponsive again.

How can I rectify this problem?

I'm running 3.90m33-2 on my psp phat... Was playing an iso off the mem stick when the same thing happened. Now, D pad and X[]O/\ are unresponsive in XMB, but responsive in recovery mode. Is pandora the only option?
