My new games won't work!

I bought Castlevania and rented Silent Hill Origins just now and much to my dismay, both of them don't seem to work. I own and am able to play Sid Meier's Pirates, so I think it's a firmware issue, but I'm not entirely sure...

The firmware my PSP is running on is 3.10 OE-A' that a friend of a friend of mine installed. I tried booting the PSP update ver 3.51, but it won't start either. Now I'm stuck with 2 games that won't work. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

I think you need a higher firmware to play silent hill and castlevania umd games... Should gone from 3.10 oe -> 3.40 oe -> 3.52 m33 -> 3.71 m33, 3.80 m33 or 3.90 m33

try updating your psp, 3.90 m33 is stable for umd games.
