IMO, I would say 3.90 M33-2, Easy hookups, 1.5 Kernel Add-on, Can use any type of POPS if added on right, and AWESOME and easy feature of the ctf for cxmbs. There's a video somewhere on youtube showing how to add almost everything there is capable to 3.90 m33-2, just snoop around a lil and im sure you'll find it |

3.52m33-4.ive said it all the time (Except when i went to 3.80m33-5, and that was a mistake) If you like simplicity id say youre better with 3.52m33-4 or 3.40OE

3.71m33-4
Dont have to screw around with popsloader and it works. If it werent for multi-disc psx games i'd still be on 3.52m33-4 though. Such good memories on that cfw.

Ok I'm very new to this, I just got my PSP today. I didnt know there were different versions of CFW. What are the different things they let you do? I mainly want to be able to back up my games to mem stick and play them from there. I also would like to use the browser just to surf the net via wifi, maybe try Skype with headphones and mic sometime.
I have a fat with 3.30 stock.
Please tell me what version of CFW I should try and what if anything I would loose.
Thanks! |

Just so you people know, MANY people have had problems with their PSPs bricking a couple days after installing CFW 3.93. It may sound good when you first get it but there really isn't any reason to change from 3.90 M33-3 to 3.93 CFW.
The best CFWs are 3.52 M33-4, 3.71 M33-4 (if you want all your PSX games to run smoothly), and 3.90 M33-3 (if you want Skype). I'd go with 3.90 M33-3 but seriously, don't stray away from Dark_Alex by going to CFW 3.93. There really isn't any need and why take the chance of fucking up your PSP?
HawkShadow: You can back up your games and play them from your memory stick with any CFW. But to play the newest games like Crisis Core or Chains of Olympus you're going to need 3.90 M33. If you want to use Skype you're also going to have to go with 3.90 M33. Just so you know, surfing the web doesn't change from the regular when you go to custom firmware. I'd say go with 3.90 M33-3. Look in my sig for an easy guide to go from official firmware (OFW) to custom firmware (CFW).

TBH, 3.52M33-4, one of the best custom firmwares to date.
People say 3.71M33, but I don't see any difference between 3.71 and 3.90.
So I would either say 3.52M33-4, or 3.90M33-3
