How can I install Firmware 3.90 m33-3

As always. Thank you for all your information. Here is my first problem. AGE!!. Am over 60 but I always like videogames. A few months back my grandson broke the PSP and I decieded to get if fix on my own. I DID. With the help of all of you.
Now I have a new problem or task if you prefer to call it that way. I try to install Firmware 3.90 M33-3 but, am doing something wrong. I don't know what it is.
1.-I downloaded the software
2.-unzip it
3.-place it on the PSP memory card
4.-Turn it on and try to update but NOTHING
The Update is in the card. When I try to update I get the following:
The game cound not be started.

I can play games, movies, mp3 but I can't upgrade to this version

My PSP information is:
Fat PSP 1001 Version 3.95

Please have in mind that I don't understand many terms you'll mention here. I grew up with radios, LP and black in white TV. Please be patient if I ask something stupid

If you have official firmware (ofw) 3.95 then you need to follow the guide in my signature down below for going to custom firmware (cfw).

In that guide, it tells you how to make you're own pandora battery but if you don't want to do that then you can buy a Datel Battery Service Tool which will change your Sony battery into a pandora battery for you. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. All of us will try and help you.

P.S. I'm about to graduate from high school and go to college and I'm still growing up with LP's. The sound quality is just so much better!
