Default Help with hacking psp slim with OFW 4.01

everything seemed to be working well, and then for a couple of times when i turned off the psp , and turned it on again, without the pandora battery on, instead of loading the PSP interface, the screen asking to install 3.71, i did it once and everything seemed to go alright, upgrading again to 4.01. when i tried changing the theme, i did everything according to the instructions. but when i selected apply, it took me once more to the screen where you are asked if you want to install 3.71.

i hit yes once more (cuz i couldnt get the psp interface even if i rebboted) .. its installing again , and ill upgrade to 4.01 , but what if it happens again?

grr... sorry, total newb at this, promise to get better =) . im just scared that i might screw up the psp .

Go back into your XMB and format your mem stick.

If you go to System Information does it say 4.01 m33-2?

EDIT:

No, you just bricked it. It's easily fixed by starting over. Just flash it again

Default Help with hacking psp slim with OFW 4.01

how do i flash it again? im following all the steps and it does say that the 3.71 install is completed but once i get into the recovery menu > advanced settings > format flash1 and reset settings, the screen goes black...the memory card LED stays orange without blinking for a while and then automatically goes off...and does nothing . when i try to turn it on i just get a black screen.

grrrrr!

You are taking the Pandora battery out after you flash it right?

yeah i take the pandora out after it installs 3.71 , then turn it on with the R button pressed...go to advanced settings, and then format flash....

and zip, zilch. it says formatting flash 1, then the screen goes black, the led orange for a couple of seconds (no blinking) then turns off, the green light under the memory led turns on for 1 second.. then the psp turns off. if i try to turn it on...wont give me the xmb.. just a black screen.. i can only access the recovery menu and the install 3.71 menu

Your formatting flash1? You really do not have to do that immediately after you flash.

Flash it again, then immediately install 4.01 m33-2 (or whatever firmware you want to run) then go into System Settings and format memory stick.

Default Help with hacking psp slim with OFW 4.01

...thanx for constant input man.

k once i install 3.71 , how can i install 4.01 m33-2 if i cant access the psp interface? or format the memory stick for that matter? i cannot access the psp menu in any way... i can just install 3.71 and once its done.. after it turns off, i only get a black screen with a static orange LED when i turn it back on and it eventually turns off. my only options to see *anything* on screen is either enter the screen where i install 3.71 *or* press R and turn it on to access the recovery menu

Hmmm...I dunno then. This may be out of my league.

AFTER you flash to 3.71 and it restarts, take out the mem card and put in a regular battery. Does it still do it?

Can you remake the MMS?

Default Help with hacking psp slim with OFW 4.01

humm when i take out the memory card and connect it via powe cord... the xmb tried to load..but froze before it did and then turned off.

weird it was working fine.

i know the memory card seems to be fine because i can access it through usb and it still has the 4.01 update inside it

however, it seems that the problem is when it tries to read the memory card, because when i put the card back in and try to turn it on, it tries to read it for a second and then the light freezes, the screen never turns on and then the light turns off by itself T_T

is there any way that i can remake the mms by inserting the memory card into the mem card slot in my pc and then try to do the process all over again on my psp?

I think you need to start over from scratch. Make the MMS from the beginning again.

well, i tried doing what you suggested, turning it on with the memory stick removed, and after a few tries the psp interface uploaded.... i inserted the memory stick and im updating to 4.01 from it... i dont know what will happen once i turn it off and on again with the memory stick inserted... it seems its a mms problem

ok the same thing happened to me what you need to do is just when you put in your pandora battery and mms then you will need to wait and press x and watch the lights go and blink. they will all be blinking for a while and when they are done then you just have to press x and you will have cfw. to check go to your system settings and press system information and it should say 3.71m33 if it doesnt then go back and try it again.

also make sure you have downloaded TOTALNewbie Easy Installer and pressed option 4 when you put it on your psp memory card. it is the best way to make a magic memory stick.

hoped this helped

well thanks a lot for all your help. taking the memory stick out and turning it on eventually fixed it. i am happy to say that now i am enjoying my psp so much! installing themes and all seems like a breeze.

i decided to keep my pandora battery and not fix it... just bought an extended battery.

well. ill be hanging around. thanx again
