Help with hacking psp slim with OFW 4.01
Hello!
Im new to the forums, and have spent 2 days reading this and other forums, but i'm still having problems and i don't really get it. so here's my question, much appreciated if someone could help.
I have a PSP (God of War edition) that's running original firmware 4.01.
I already created my Pandora battery.
Whenever i use any of the procedures i've read (none of this specify if it work on firmware 4.01) and i get to the part where i insert the Pandora battery (with or without holding L button) the green light goes on but not the memory stick light..and the screen stays black.
I'm using windows xp right now by the way..also have access to windows vista. Is it that i'm not using the right guide(s)? could my pandora battery be damaged? i dont have access to a modded psp . is there a guide that works with firmware 4.01 on a psp slim?
please excuse if there are any guides out there specified for 4.01...i've searched and searched and am about to give up.
my psp works normally when connected by the electrical cord. |

Again, I don't know if this is allowed, but I made this guide on another forum because like you, I needed something that was simple and easy to use. Lets flash that PSP Slim!

Help with hacking psp slim with OFW 4.01
wow! thanks for the quick replies!
thanks for the link...
however, i used once again the following guide:
Sorry , cant post the URL cuz i dont have 15 posts yet, but its the Ultimate Guide to M33 Custom firmware (Slim) found on the custom firmware forum, and yes, my memory card is the official 1GB Memory stick PROduo.
everything worked out fine, until after 3.71 M33 is installed..
the following instruction says to turn on the PSP with the R button held.
when i do that, it doesn't take me to a menu where i could select an "advanced option" it takes me to the same menu where i have the option of installing either firmwares 3.71 M33 or the original 3.71.
any ideas? |

You have to use a normal battery and not pandora's... It's missing the boot rom in the battery so it wants to load off the mem stick still.

Help with hacking psp slim with OFW 4.01
thanks so much for your help. So once i plugged the power cord in (didnt have another normal battery) the FW apparently installed correctly. only thing i notice a bit weird is that when i go to Game> Memory Stick i have 3 files : PSP Update ver 1.50, Pandora's Battery Creator, and a block that says corrupted data O_O
should i be worried or is the corrupted data block normal ? >.< |

Help with hacking psp slim with OFW 4.01
hello 'gain =)
one more doubt. following the same guide ive been trying to update to 4.01 M33, but after i place everything in place, and i select the update from the PSP interface...once it unpacks, tells me that "battery has to be at least at 78%" . since i dont have another battery its connected by the cable to the electrical outlet.
am i doing something wrong? do i need a normal battery for it..? |

Take it out of the PSP, plug the PSP into the wall adapter. Turn it on - after it boots up and your at the XMB, put the Pandora battery in the PSP. This should start to charge it. You can go to System Settings - Battery Information and it should say charging.
There ya go
