Default [Noob] Does this plan look right?

Hi. I'm getting a new PSP Slim on Monday (14 July) and plan to install CFW on it right away. Here are the steps as I understand the process, please let me know if I'm doing it right. I'm working from a guide here and the one on Blast Processing. I will only have one battery to work with.

Major step one, create a magic memory stick.
-format using mspformat.exe
-put despertar_cementario in /PSP/GAME
-put the firmwares 150.PBP, 340.PBP, and 380.PBP (renamed from eboot.pbp) in the root of the memory stick
-put the kd and registry folders in the root of the memory stick (What are these anyway? I have them already.?)
-run msinst on msipl.bin (that I downloaded) with the memory stick as the drive target

(Ok, I am really good with technical stuff but from this tutorial it just assumes you are a retard so I have no idea what just went on. It looks like what happens is you provide all the firmware eboots for Despertar to work on, then these mystery kd and registry folders, then install the mystery msipl file on the memory card. Even though I understand the instructions I'd like to know what is actually going on here so any help is appreciated.)

Major step two, make a Pandora battery.
-carefully cut the battery open
-cut that little trace on the very edge of the pcb with a sharp utility knife
(there are some very prominent pictures of this which I'm leaving out)

Major step three, use the MMS.
-insert the MMS
-insert the Pandora'd battery
-follow the on-screen instructions to install the custom firmware
(the guide I'm working from on blast-processing never mentioned how the CFW gets on the memory stick. does Despertar just patch the official files to 3.80 m33 or what? to me it seems like a step is missing.)

Major step four, revert stuff back to normal
-color over the cut trace in the battery with a pencil
-format the memory stick

Major step five, enjoy.

Have I got it right? Are there some steps I missed? Are there simpler ways to do things, or more reliable ways? Software that can make the MMS a more streamlined affair? Let me know!

Good luck, but the psp your getting will most likely have a battery you cannot pandorize, unfortunately.

and if you get the total newb easy installer PsP(Google it)
it will save you the hassel of doing the tech side.

Oh yes? I didn't know there was more than one model of slim battery. Do you have a link where I can read up about it?
