Confusion over folders after uograding to CFW 4.01 M33

I've just upgraded my (new to me) version 3.95 PSP Slim to CFW 4.01 M33.
I've tried further unsuccessful upgrades to CFW 4.01M33(2) and to CFW 4.05 M33. I've downloaded both files and tried to put the EBOOT.PBP files from each of the update folders in these files, into the PSP/Game folder.
However I've a number of folders which I'm not sure why they are there at all. Within the PSP folder there is a Common, Game, Game4xx, Game150, Rssch, Savedata,, System and a Theme folder. Which ever one I pick to put the EBOOT.PBP file into, when I go to the PSP to update, there is not an option to update.
I've also tried to put the EBOOT.PBP file into the ISO folder where my other CSO and ISO games are and that didn't work either.
Also when I look in the list...under Games...on the PSP there is an icon there to update to ver 3.52. I've no idea how this got there and I can't see any files relating to this when I browse the MS.

Can anyone help or offer any reasons for the above preculiarities, please?

You put the EBOOT.PBP in the PSP/GAME folder.

I've put the EBOOT.PBP file into the PSP/Game folder and all of the other ones I mentioned as well and I don't have the option to update on the PSP.
Do you know which folders should actually appear in the PSP folder... ie Game, Game 150, Game 4xx etc?

Depends on what applications you use and what kernel you use. For example if you use RSS then you should have an RSS folder. I don't use any of those applications and I use both 4.XX kernel and 1.5 kernel so these are my folders inside the PSP folder: COMMON, GAME, GAME150, GAME4XX, SAVEDATA, SYSTEM, THEME.

i would suggest just leaving the folders alone, they are all supposed to be there....and the eboot.pbp goes a folder called UPDATE, u make it, and then the UPDATE folder goes into ur GAME folder

Oh yeh. I forgot about that. Yes that's what your supposed to do

when in doubt, back up your card to your pc and do a formate of your folders... also i learned, new folders, just leave em alone and look for the same old good ones like :
root/psp/game
root/iso
root/seplugins

good times with new firm wares
