Default PSP V1.52 Japanese.. cant update

Hi, I've been lurking on these forums for a while reading all the info and handy little tips you give I have a problem now and I seek help if poss.. sony couldn't help me much tbh.

I have a PSP1000 (japanese psp) it's on firmware 1.52 everytime I try to upgrade I get nothing on screen but my background colour and an "X O" at the bottom.. pressing O doesnt do anything.. I cant see any writing or anything.. can anyone help me with this?

I've d/l the japanese v2.6 firmware and put it where it's sposed to be..

gratefull for any help

dont use the 2.6 get the 2.0 from www.pspupdates.com

you can use homebrew on 2.0 and not as easily on 2.6
just a thought, do that and ill help you more

Default PSP V1.52 Japanese.. cant update

In order to see the upgrade text, you have to reset your default settings. Not sure why this happens sometimes but just go to Settings>System Settings>Default settings and say OK. This should fix it up so you can actual run the upgrade.

PSP v2.01+ cannot be downgraded. BUT. there is a solution. find a PSP noob and trade them if they have under 2.01

lol.. V1.5 obtained: March 2 2006
