Default Newb here!

Well I just got my first PSP.

So today when I got off work I started educating myself on Firmware and what each version can and can't do.

At this point I have a question, and I'm probably confusing myself here, but..

If you have a 2.6 (like me) you need to use the GTA save game exploit to run homebrow..ok.
Does homebrow include any games that float around in the "usual places" or just emulator?

I'm a little lost so I'm sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here.

Homebrew includes any games coded by non-sacntioned developers for the psp. Homebrew does NOT include games created with a license for the psp, such as ISO "backups" of UMD games. You can not play ISO's on anything above 1.5. Some homebrew does not currently work on 2.01+, you can check www.fanjita.org for a list of working EBOOTs (executables) for the each version of the loader.

Feel free to PM me any other noob questions you have if you don't want to post something that might get you flamed out in the open forum

OK so a 2.6 will NOT play ISO backups.

Now, the eloader from fanjita, is this a file that you put in each one of the folders for the games listed to work? Or how exactly does the eloader work along side these games?

And does this eloader from fanjita.org allow you to play games that have already been released for 1.5 firmwares on 2.6 firmwares?

The eloader starts up and gives you a list of all the homebrew games to choose from. The eloader will allow you to play most of the games written for 1.5 on the 2.6 (NOT ISO backups).

The eloader for 2.6 launches from GTA, and from there you can pick from any homebrew saved to your memory stick.

Ok so lets say you download a game from a "pirate".. and its just the folders.. is that still technically an ISO backup or is that when the eloader would infact allow you to play?

That is an ISO back up and will not work. The eloader plays homebrew, not backups (be them your back ups or some pirates backups).

In short, if you want to play psp games on a psp with firmware higher then 2.0 you must legally purchase the game. If you want to play emulators or any other such homebrew, go by GTA and download the eloader.

No more talk of ISOs or any other illegally obtained software, we are very anti-piracy at this forum.

I was only asking questions very delicately for my own education, that does not promote or even suggest that I engage in illegal activities.

But thank you for clearing things up.

So in short, if I want to play Sega Genisus roms, I would use eloader to launch the rom or eloader to launcher the roms loader which then launches the rom?

And in short short, the eloader itself will not work on 2.6 unless you have purchased GTA, is this correct?
