No clue how to do this. Please help

So I am completely new to this and have no clue what to do. Is there any way to mod my PSP without having to use a Pandora? I read some of the guides and they say yes above a certain version. I have a PSP 1001 running version 2.60. Is that low enough to warrant not using a Pandora? And if yes, then how?

just follow those guides you have read..you can update it to 5.03 than hack with chickhen then use Hellcat's Recovey Flasher to get custom firmware installed.

i would really appreciate help on this prob....i want to use ultimate vsh menu on my psp....i put the vshmenu.prx file in my mem stick,make a text document titled vsh.txt,go to recovery mode n enter plugins but i still cant see the plugin for the ultimate vsh menu...any help here?im on a psp 2006 version 5.00m33-6

It's a simple solution man, what you need to do is change your seplugins folder to slepplugins, your firmware is very different, you might want 3.40 OE-A custom firmware, it is the best firmware, I have it on my phat PSP man. It has all the latest gadgets!
