Blank/Black screen PSP fat during 5.50 D update

I currently have an psp 1000(fat) that I upgraded from 5.00 m33 to 5.50 gen b-2(full). All my games play fine, the problem is I can't seem to upgrade it to 5.50 D. I copy and paste the 550.PBP to the root menu. I have the update file in the GAME folder. I see a "pink" colored GEN selection under my games. But when I select it it starts to boot up but then my screen goes blank and nothing else happens. Can anyone gve me a little help on this....Thanks in advance.

did you run this one first?
File Details-Custom-Firmware-5.50GEN-D-PSP -

and then after reboot run this one?

I did use that one, same results, ay idea...

I don't have a fat myself but after looking around i found a couple people who had to goto GEN-C first then to D
Might want to try that
But since C was so buggy it would be adviseable to have a pandora and MMS handy.
