Default Socom: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2

Game Title : Socom U.S. Navy Seals Fireteam Bravo 2
Game Description : Socom is one of the more quieter of the popular series. It has a large fan base, but mostly consistent of hardcore fans or gamers. This particular Socom is already the second one to hit the PSP and has claimed to have improved over the first in many ways.
Number of Players : 1-16
Genre : Shooter
Retail Price : $39.99
Graphics : 8.0/10
Sound : 8.0/10
Controls : 7.5/10
Gameplay : 8.0/10
Overall : 7.8/10

The graphics of this game are really quite good. I love the 3-D style that this game approached and it was pulled off quite nicely. The polygonal character models look great and detailed and the colours are very dark and muddy giving it that war like feel that this game needs. The only down point to this game’s graphics is the, I guess you can say, filtering or pixelization that just stands out often. A lot of the time I can see some pixels or fuzzy areas that can be a little ugly some times. Also, the background buildings some times seem to be just simple, smooth and flat which makes it not fit in with the rest of the game detailed environment. But with that said, you aren’t going to be cringing your teeth at the site of this game. The game has an overall appeal in this area and should never be underestimated.

Now I’m going to try and be fair here. I have to be honest I’m not a fan of the style of music this game presents so I may have bumped the score for this category down a bit. Though, it is technically well constructed music, I just don’t enjoy it that much, but the voice acting and sound effects from gun blasts and explosions are so perfect it’s like you are actually involved in the missions. Kudos to them for sound effects, voices, and the hard work put into creating the music.

I got this game after I owned Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror for along time and because I was so use to the magnificent controls in Dark Mirror, this game didn’t feel nearly as comfortable. Though, not bad, I just had a hard time adjusting to a completely different control scheme, so that cause the score here to drop, but if you have never played Dark Mirror than I’m sure you’ll be accustomed to these controls if you start with them first.

This game is split up into a bunch of missions and an awesome multiplayer mode. The campaign mode has you completing clever mission tasks that sadly become a little repetitive, but what is nice is there are secondary missions and whatnot that add to the replayability and detracts from the repetitiveness a bit more. Also, the multiplayer options are some of the best I have experienced on the PSP, I just love the online mode, and when I am to lazy to take the time to wait for players I can still play with my friends because they are always up for a game. Besides the repetitive missions this game can turn out to be a lot of fun a lot of the time.

Overall, I have really enjoyed this game, but I was honestly expecting more out of it. I don’t know what possessed me to think that way, but that’s how I came into this game. And when I got into it I was a little disappointed in the lack of some areas. It is an improvement over the first, but when I heard it was I guess I sub-consciously expected a lot more from it. With that said, however, I never actually hated this game, it was still a very fun game that I still pick up every once and a while today. Mildly recommended.

Good review,

You gottah admit this is a good game.. I mean if i still somehow want to play after being slayed all day by cheaters that have god mode and from people that can shoot passed walls..

It must be good, you just gotta find the right room and players.

UPDATE:
No no, finalfantasyxii I agree with your score.. and good review

I guess your right. But, 7.8 isn't a bad score and I did say I really enjoyed. I just expected more for some reason.
