Final Fantasy Tactics: Lion Wars
FFT Lion Wars
Number Of Players :1-2
Genre : Tactical RPG
Graphics out of 10 : 7
It's the classic tactics graphics. Nothing to be impressed on. The cut scenes were marvelous though. Appeared to be hand drawn. The missing noses are a throw off. And the dark Knight sprites are ugly.
Sound out of 10 : 9
The music doesn't get annoying in the least bit which is normally a killer for most RPG's. The sound affects are still great, cheesy for some. But great none the less.
Controls out of 10 : 9.9
The ease of use is still as it was. The only tricky thing was controlling the camera with the analog. It gets mildly irritating at times.
Gameplay out of 10 : 9
Well sure the gameplay gets alittle repetitive. But if you're not ready to expect that why are you playing this game. No grinding is involved unless you want some of the higher classes *cough*DarkKnight*cough* And it's as addicting as it ever was.
Overall out of 10 : 9
Game Description : You play Ramza Bellouve. The youngest child in the Bellouve house of Nobles. Your father has recently died. And the King is dying with only a child to take his place. Two dukes of the land are fighting for rights to the throne. While your family has a hand in everything. But there's a higher power behind the scene controlling everything through the church and the "myth" of the Zodiac Brave Story.

i have done some mild research on this game. i have never played any of the FF tactics games and they seem interesting. i have heard that when you get your magic stronger that there tends to be a sound lag. anyone know if this is true? i also heard that if you havent played the original one for the PS1 that this is a good investment. could anyone second this? |

I don't think that's even the right title. There has been debate as to whether or not the slowdown during spell casting is due to hardware limitations or programmers' intentions, but I've found that running the game as a .cso or .iso rather than off of the UMD speeds it up a bit. The sound does have some issues during spellcasting; it sounds almost as if it's just a low quality audio.
The PS1 version was a lot of fun, but there really isn't any reason to have a copy of each, unless you're a diehard fan, or a purist. Neither of the translations is particulary good, but the PSP version has multiplayer (which gets old fast unless you know someone to play with that doesn't have hacked characters) as well as the Dark and Onion Knight classes.
I would recommend this game. You can put a lot of hours into it, or you can breeze through it. Enemies in random encounters scale with your level, but enemies in the main storyline do not. After you get comfortable with the game you can try SCC (where all of your character are the same sex and the same job) or even an SSCC (where you only use Ramza and guests in battle).
The board at Video Game Cheats - Video Game Reviews - Video Game Codes - Video Game Web Site - GameFAQs has a lot of information about things you can do to make the game more challening or fun. If you decide to buy this, definately head over there.

i agree with your review, i got it today and i loved it! the only thing that got annoying was the camera- sometimes you couldnt move the camera the right way so you could see a certain space.

I thoroughly enjoy this game. It is fun for me. The only drawback I don't like is the name changes for the towns. This has made it hard for me to switch from the ps1 game (which I own and have a ps1 system for) to this psp game. I like it very much and would recommend it even if you don't follow the final fantasy 1 through a thousand,(they stopped at 12 right?) storyline which were played on the ps1 and ps2. |

lol you can't knock off that they have no noses its just the style you should have rated it higher. and for those who never played it, all i have to say is that its a great strategy RPG like Most of the Shining Force series and fire emblem. I Heard that the GBA remake has different races or something( IDK I haven't reserached it all i know is that my PS1 disk is Awsome). The only difference i saw so far for the psp was that they changed some names of moves like all the remakes of FF
PS: cross your fingers they don't remake FF7. i don't care what you fanboyz have to say they will screw it up( Its not the best 1 anyway. FF6 is Cause Kafka** rocks)

Sorry I haven't been in this thread. Been gone for awhile. But the no noses thing was a joke. The sound lag is a problem. But I've wasted countless hours on it. The only big problem I have is the change in speech. It just seems cheesy now.
And I hope they remake FF7, just exactly the same with PS3 graphics behind it. And maybe a more in depth hillside battle system(where you get phoenix).

I Seriously don't like this game i bought it the other day, expecting a big adventure to be horribly disapointed to a dull system of Battles then Story Clips, There was no Free roaming at all, Sure you could select a town on the map but not look around it.
I Love RPG's, Especially the Final Fantasy Series but slaping the free roam out of it really doesnt much of one to me, its just a Combat Chess with a story. So im just warning FF fans look into the game before you think about buying it
