Default [PSP]Manhunt 2: Uncut Review 10

Game Title : Manhunt 2: Uncut

Firmware Required : CFW/OFW
Release Date: 10/29/07 US
Developer: Rockstar Games

Game Description : Manhunt, known for its gruesome, raw and haunting gameplay. Will Manhunt 2 be twice as Gruesome and Raw as its predecessor? I'm afraid it's so Gruesome that it's banned from some places in Europe. Of course with this Version uncut, I got to see all the nasty blood and gore. Of course, thats all this game is. Blood and Gore, but I saw nothing twisted or sickening that made me want to literally shit myself and devour it. The Story of the game is quite interesting, but not as satisfying as some others. Of course after every mission, you never get to see the rest of the scene. It feels like it was cut short. The story in the game doesn't give you much detail about whats going on either. First you go find some lady, then some doctor. Did you kill the lady? Wheres the gruesome detail? Did you kill the doctor? Well supposedly you did but I see no Corpse. Dammit! I wanted to see more people die! Actually you get to see a lot of people die, with specific weapons you can execute your enemies. With a handful of weapons, you can suffocate your enemy with a bag or knock him in the head with your shotgun and blast his brains wide open. There are also 3 levels of execution depending on how long you hold the Square button. But of course there are some flaws to this game.

Storyline: You play as Daniel Lamb and for some apparent reason, your escaping from an insane asylum. You have a slight case of amnesia and you slowly have flashbacks. These flashbacks lead you to your mission to fully recover your amnesia and escape from your captives. You are accompanied by your homie, Leo. The Story makes you want to grasp for more because it feels so short. Other then that, the story was quite interesting.

Number Of Players : 1
Genre : Action Adventure
Retail Price : $29.99 USD

Graphics out of 10 : 9/10
- The graphics are great, the only problem is that the mouths of the characters don't move. Which looks quite odd if you ask me. Other then that the gore and blood are fantastic. The executions look great.
Sound out of 10 : 8/10
- The music can be quite haunting at times and scare the living crap out of you, but after the track reaches its highest climax it slowly climbs down. But then it repeats itself later and can get quite repetitive and annoying if you notice it. It gets annoying because it scares the living shit out of you and you just want it to shut up so you can concentrate.
Controls out of 10 : 6/10
- The controls were quite frustrating for the PSP. When you free aim, its incredibly hard to aim at someones head with the analog stick. You have to decrease the aim sensitivity by a lot just to shoot a pad lock or snipe someone. The PSP Slim can be quite annoying also. Seeing as how L and R are to Aim with you gun and when your hands get sweaty, your fingers slip.
Gameplay out of 10 : 9/10
- The game is quite fun, but can be frustrating at times. Its a survival game so pretty much you do some Sam Fisher shit and sneak up on people and execute them. But if they spot you, prepare for a Epic Beat Down. Pretty much they beat the living shit out of you and when you get up, they beat the living shit out of you again. There are about 16 Missions, no more, no less. The game is quite short and can be finished in one sit in.

Overall
out of 10 : 8/10 B
- Overall this is a fun game, if your into execution games or stealth games. The story is quite interesting but there is only one thing that bothered me that stood out. After you chase someone throughout the whole mission just to kill them. You don't get the satisfying visual of watching your Character mutilate them.

lol shhhh

Thanks guys for the review. It's a worthwhile game to put your hands on. I'd say rent it instead of buy it.

Can the patch be run with the UMD in, rather than making an ISO/CSO?

The patch has to be on the ISO because its a .exe thats run on the PC as opposed to a patch on the PSP which is an eboot

When I got the manhole execution, it was by accident cause I had a shotgun (or something), so it took me by surprise.. but I laughed my ass off cause it was so delightfully twisted.

Nice review. I agree with you on the controls and sound. I found that the sound is very sparse especially when you're sneaking around waiting for that right moment to jump someone.

Are you referring to the very final chapter with the "chasing the guy for the whole stage and not getting to kill him"?
You may have missed something.

Thanks, CT. Guess I'll just stick with my UMD version, for now...
