Default Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords

It's 3:30 A.M. and I can't sleep so here's a review for

Ever play Tetris for hours on end, not because you were really having a great time or anything but just because for some reason its that addicting? That is kinda how this game is.

Don't get me wrong its a great game. It takes bejeweled, which is addicting by itself, and then adds the most addicting features of RPG games, the ever evolving skills and classes,(mage, knight, ect.). You play like an RPG moving around the overworld map. When you encounter an enemy you enter a bejeweled fight. Each player taking turns to try to get skull gems to match up to damage the other player. Your skills affect the game board in various ways.

Its all very fun at first, but as the game wares on it becomes less about fun and more about addiction. Much like tetris you'll find yourself playing this game way to much for how simple it is. Once again, not saying that is a bad thing.

I personally burned myself out and quit playing before I finished, (this was about 6 months ago) but sitting here at 3:30 A.M. bored out of my mind I decided to start playing again and damned if I'm not having a good time of it.

The only drawback to this game, and maybe its just my copy, is that on the PSP it seems to get really laggy in the over-world the more of the map you have uncovered. Considering its just a simple cartoon drawn map that the psp should easily handle, this is definitely bad programming on the creators part.

Anyway, I recommend this game. It's on every system so check it out on whichever console you prefer.

Game Description : Puzzle/RPG?
Genre : Puzzle
Graphics out of 10 : 3/10
Sound out of 10 : 7/10
Controls out of 10 : 9/10
Gameplay out of 10 : 9/10
Overall out of 10 : 9/10

Yea this game will make you addicted lol... can't argue with that. As long as you're a fan of bejeweled, you should be fine. Only a couple issues I came across though:

1. The friends that join your party and their abilities when entering a battle do NOT work in the psp version. Weird..

2. There is slow down on UMD and when I ripped it to mem card but not that big of a deal

3. Some classes are more overpowering than others. I chose the knight, while gf chose the magic caster. The development and battles of her character were significantly more difficult than the knight.

Overall this a pretty fun game, definitely something you can play any time. There are many things to do even after the game is "done," however we did end up burning ourselves out haha. We're looking forward to Galactrix though

Loki, did you run into the issue of lock up after reaching a certain level, and not being able to access certain spells? My wife and I both have this (for the PSP, and now for the PS3), and we ran into this issue. As long as we didn't attempt to access certain spells, after reaching a certain level, it wouldn't lockup, but then it made the game kind of stale. So far, we've not had that issue with the PS3 version. Just curious. The game is a blast...
